PORT TALBOT MOTOR CLUB 2017 CHAMPIONSHIP
RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. All participants must be fully paid up members of PTMC in 2017
2. Entries must be made under PTMC and ONLY PTMC is to show on any event documentation (unless the event is closed to club or the competitor is required to be a member of any associated championships). NO points will be awarded to any competitor if more than ONE club is shown on any event documentation.
3. The competing vehicle must display at least one PTMC window badge.
4. A sponsors sticker may have to be displayed in accordance with the MSA regulations.
5. All competitors must register with the championship co-ordinators, Competitors may join anytime during the year but only score points from joining date onwards.
6. To be eligible for championship points, competitors must contact the championship co-ordinator with their results within 14 days of final results being published ( A no contact, no points system will be enforced). It is the sole responsibility of the competitor to inform the co-ordinator of his/her results!!
7. Club stewards for the championship will be Mr Baryon Joseph, Mr Brent Oatway and Mr Lyn Jenkins. The stewards may rule on points not covered in these regulations. The decision of the stewards is final.
8. There will be a championship category for both drivers and co-drivers in 3 different championships consisting of a Tarmac Championship, a Forest Championship and a Road Rally Championship. Also this year we will run a seperate award for highest placed under 25 driver and navigator.
9. Qualifying events will be any Asphalt, Forest or Road Rally that is run under a recognised motorsport governing body permit of clubman status or above.
10. The championships will work on a best 7 scores principal, being the best 7 scores gained over the year will be totalled up to make the final score for that competitor. The competitor will also have the opportunity to nominate ONE event, in each championship, that he/she can score double points on and this score, regardless of a finish or a DNF (Did Not Finish), must be included in the final best 7 scores.
To nominate the double points score the competitor MUST contact the championship co-ordinators no later than the day before the event starts!!
11. If a competitor starts an event but did not finish (DNF) then he/she will score 1 point (double points scores still apply if nominated on an event that a DNF is scored). If a competitor starts and finishes an event but is the only PTMC championship contender doing the event then a score of 6 points will be awarded. If 2 contenders start + finish then they would get 6 points and 4 points for 1st and 2nd. If 3 start then 6,4,2 points will be awarded to those that finish. If 4 championship contenders start then a score of 8,6,4 + 2 points will be awarded and so on. In addition to overall points there will also be points awarded to competitors that finish in the top 3 of their class. 1st in class = 3 points, 2nd in class = 2 points and 3rd in class = 1 point. Also if a competitor finishes in the top 3 overall on an event then points will be scored as follows: 1st overall = 5 points, 2nd overall = 4 points and 3rd overall = 3 points. (points for class awards will not be awarded if 1st, 2nd or 3rd overall points are given).
12. In the event of a tie at the end of the year it will revert back to the highest FIRST qualifying high points score that will decide the winner, if the same points were scored on first score then will go to second and so on.
13. PTMC will give awards to the highest 3 championship contenders in each category of the 3 championships and an award for the highest placed under 25 driver and navigator from all 3 championships combined. Additional awards may be presented at the discretion of the general committee. All awards will be presented at the Clubs Annual Presentation Dinner & Dance. Award winners must attend the presentation in order to be eligible for his/her award (unless they cannot attend for some reason and prior notice is given to the championship coordinator).
14. As well as a trophy, there will also be an award to the 1st placed driver and codriver in each championship category of a free ½ entry to 1 of the events organised by PTMC (e.g 1st o/a codriver in the asphalt championship could have a free ½ entry to the tour of epynt or the red dragon rally). For the winner of the road rally championship if he/she does not want the entry on 1 of the stage events then PTMC will pay a ½ entry to a road rally of his her choosing. Drivers and codrivers can combine their ½ entry to total 1 free entry if they wish.
