POLY-CHEMCURE PC-145

POLYAMIDE EPOXY BLOCK FILLER

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

A two component, high build modified Polyamide cured epoxy block filler formulated to seal, fill and level porous masonry block surfaces. Normally, 1-2 coats of PC-145 will also fill most small voids, and crevices to provide a smooth, even surface for painting. Ideal for interior or exterior block and masonry surfaces. PC-145, with the recommended topcoats, provides a system with excellent chemical and abrasion resistance, as well as a system that withstands frequent cleanings.

PRODUCT FEATURES

1. Excellent adhesion to block and masonry surfaces5. Easy to apply

2. Excellent filling properties provide ideal “hold out."6. Much harder than Latex & Acrylic

3. A base coat for high performing coating systems block fillers.

4. Hard film with high impact and abrasion resistance7. Meets requirements for use in food

processing plants.

PRODUCT USES

PC-145 is used to fill and seal block and masonry surfaces in the following areas:

1.Industrial

Chemical processing plants, pulp and paper mills, sewage and waste water treatment facilities, electric generating plants, petroleum refineries, food processing, dairies, meat packing, bottling plants, poultryplants, breweries, marine applications, manufacturing plants, computer rooms, textile mills, and furniture plants.

2.Institutions

Schools, hospitals, nursing and retirement homes, jails, cafeterias, dormitories, rest rooms, locker rooms, showers, kitchens, laundry rooms, laboratories and medical and veterinary clinics.

3.Commercial

Car washes, dog kennels, stadiums, arenas, zoos, clean rooms, restaurants, shopping centers, supermarkets and warehouses.

SURFACE PREPARATION

When coating new block and masonry surfaces, remove all dirt, dust, grease, oil, form release agents, curing compounds, salts, hardeners, chemical contaminants, soil, laitance, efflorescence, old paint, and any other foreign matter. The prepared surface must be clean, dry and structurally sound. Surface should be cleaned by sand blasting or power tool cleaning. Repair damaged masonry cracks, bug holes, spalledareas, joints and seams with CF-615 Epoxy Crack Filler. Allow new masonry to age for 30 days before painting.

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS

Stir each component to a uniform consistency, by power agitation. Make sure any pigment settled to the bottom is incorporated. Do not vary proportions. Poly-Chem PC-145 Block Filler is prepared by mixing 1 part Base (Part A) to 1 part Hardener (Part B) with a explosion proof variable speed drill with a Jiffy mixer. Be sure material is thoroughly mixed together. Allow an induction or “sweat in” time for 30 minutes to one hour before using. Then re-mix once more and apply. Thin up to 10% per gallon with SA-65, if necessary.

POT LIFE

The pot life of PC-145 is about 6-8 hours at 75F. At 90F, the pot life is reduced to about 4-6 hours. Discard material after 8 hours.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

PC-145 can be applied by brush, roller or spray. Apply 1-2 coats, depending on porosity.

Airless SprayConventional Spray

Gun - Graco 205-591Gun - DeVilbiss MBC-510 or JCA

Pump - 30 :1Fluid Tip - E

TipRange - .025 - .033 @ 2500-3300 psiAir Cap - 64 or 704

Hose - 3/8 inch I.D.Atomizing Pressure - 60-100 psi

Pot Pressure - 30-50 psi

Hose - 1/2 inch I.D.

The preferred method of application is to apply a full base coat using an airless spray unit, followed immediately by “back-rolling” the materials to produce a uniform, smooth finish. Use a 3/8” to 1/2” nap, phenolic core roller cover for “back -rolling”. For best results in spraying, use 50% overlapping crosshatch pattern to minimize the occurrence of pinholes. Rough and porous block may need two (2) coats of PC-145 Block Filler before applying the rest of the coating system. The second method of application is rolling. Use a 3/4" - 1 1/4" phenolic core roller cover.

Make sure the PC-145 Epoxy Block Filler is stored at 70F - 80F before using. Do not apply to surfaces below 50F, or above 100F. Do not apply over dew or frost. The surface should be dry and at least 5F above the dew point.

CAUTIONS

PC-145 is flammable. Keep away from all sources of ignition during mixing, application and cure. The Hardener (Part B) can cause eye and skin burns as well as allergic reactions. The use of goggles, fresh air masks or NIOSH approved respirators, protective skin cream and protective clothing is a recommended standard practice when spraying coatings. For safety and proper product curing, good ventilation is necessary when painting indoors or in confined areas. This product is sold without warranty as to performance expressed or implied. Users are urged to make their own tests to determine the suitability for their particular conditions.
