WEATHER CLOSINGS: We will follow the cancellations for Cranston Public Schools. If the schools are closed due to weather we will not have classes on that day. We will post our cancellations on Facebook, and with the Rhode Island Broadcasters Association, which will be posted on every network and radio station, as well as through subscribed text alerts. In some circumstances, school may be open for the day,but after-school programs may be cancelled by the school district, or by BASICS, if conditions worsen in the evening hours - so if the weather is questionable, please check in with us! Please contact BASICS any time you are uncertain about the weather or about cancellations! The safety of our students is our number one priority!!

FUNDRAISING & COMMUNITY EVENTS: BASICS is a parent organization, dedicated to making the lives of Cranston students better through increasing communications, promoting discussions, and providing programs and opportunities for the children in our city. We do not require families to help us with our fundraising or community events, but participation is encouraged and appreciated. Information regarding all events is available on Facebook, and our website, as well as through email.

COMMUNICATIONS: In order to keep the cost of this program down, we use email as our ONLYsource of communication. We must have a valid email address to reach you! Join us on Facebook for current information and to participate in discussions on what is going on in education today. You can always contact BASICS through Facebook, via email, , or you can contact BASICS President, Kerri Kelleher, via cell, 401-241-1561, or Music Director, Peter Kelleher, via cell, 401-226-8448 with any questions or concerns.

VOLUNTEERS: We CANNOT run the classes without parent assistance, so please consider becoming a parent volunteer at your school! High School musicians can become classroom assistants, and help mold the next generation of musicians while sharing their passion AND earning community service hours!

PARENT CONDUCT: Please remember that BASICS is a volunteer parent group. We ask that you please refrain from using inappropriate language with our instructors and our BASICS members, and that you behave appropriately at all times. Parents who violate this policy are subject to having their student removed from the program, or from being banned from events or classes.

LATE PICKUP POLICY: Parents should be at pickup 5 minutes before class ends. Our instructors are not paid by for their time beyond class, and it is unfair to keep them there beyond dismissal. After a five minute “grace period,” late parents will be charged a fee of $1.00 for every minute late. This fee must be paid directly to the instructor at time of pick up.

FOOD POLICY: Parents should refrain from sending their children into classes with any snacks or treats. Water bottles are permitted. If your child suffers from a food allergy, please let us know. Any treats will be distributed by BASICS upon parent approval.
