CALUMET HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: Any student who plans to acquire a four-year college education in any field, provided: the student be in the upper 25% of his/her graduating class with a G.P.A. of 3.0 or better, and has demonstrated financial need. The applicant's character, personality, participation in extra-curricular activities and outside employment record, if any, will be considered.

CHS-SHHS REUNION ASSOCIATION AWARD

Eligibility: Any student intending to pursue a vocational/technical skill diploma or certificate is eligible to apply. This program must be pursued at a training or educational facility that is state or federal government accredited, sanctioned, or recognized. The course of study for this program should not exceed two years. Character, school and community activities are to be considerations. Other considerations will be: out-of-school activities (work experiences, community service, church, organizations). A brief, correctly written paragraph regarding occupational goals is required.

C-L-K FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: Any currently enrolled full-time graduating Calumet High School student who has completed a full year of studies at Calumet High School. The recipient must plan to pursue a career that requires advance training at an institution of higher learning. The applicant's character, personality, academic achievement, participation in extra-curricular activities, employment record, and community activities will be considered. The student must have achieved a G.P.A. of at least 3.000.

FR. CASPER GENSLER O.F.M. SCHOLARSHIP #1

Eligibility: Any student who is pursuing a four year degree in religion, church, ministry, social science or humanities. Grade point average of 2.5 or better. Applicant's character, personality, and participation in extra-curricular activities will be considered.

FR. CASPER GENSLER O.F.M. SCHOLARSHIP #2

Eligibility: Any student irrespective of age, race, religion, sex or ethnic group, who plans to pursue a baccalaureate degree. This scholarship is to be awarded to a member of one of the local Catholic Churches who is involved in church activities. The applicant's character, personality and extracurricular activities will be considered. The recipient must have a g.p.a. of 3.0 or better.

MILDRED W. JOHNSON TRUST SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: The recipient of this scholarship must be planning to attend Northern Michigan University. The student's character, scholastic ability and school and community participation will be considered. You must have a g.p.a. of 3.0 or better and must have attended Calumet High School for at least one full year.

MATTHEW L. AND CATHERINE T. KROLL SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS

Detroit Edison Company - Eligibility: The applicant must intend to immediately pursue a course of study in engineering at Michigan Technological University. Academic performance shall be given the greatest weight in determining qualifications.

MARTA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: Any student who plans to pursue a baccalaureate degree from any four year institution in any field. The applicant's character, personality, participation in extra-curricular activities, employment record and community activities will be considered.


WILLIAM R. SINCOCK SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: A boy enrolled in any college or university who is deemed suitable from the standpoint of his high school scholastic achievement, need and character.

THE KATHERINE THURNER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: The recipient of this scholarship may attend any university or college to pursue an associate or baccalaureate degree in the field of nursing. The recipient must have attended Calumet High School for at least one full school year. The scholarship will be based on the student's character and scholastic ability and the student must have a G.P.A. of 2.5 or better. The applicant's character, personality, and participation in athletic activities will be considered.

ELIZABETH M. BENNETT SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: This scholarship will be awarded to a Calumet High School graduate attending any university, college, or other type of institution of advanced learning or training. The recipient must have attended Calumet High school for at least one full year prior to graduation. The scholarship will be based on the student's character, and scholastic ability. The applicant must have attained a G.P.A. of 2.5 or better.

KERMIT BRYANT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: Student from Keweenaw County attending either a vocational school or college.

CALUMET EDUCATION ASSOCIATION

Eligibility: A graduating senior who plans to pursue a career in teaching with a grade point average of 2.5 or better.

CALUMET INGOT CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: Recipient of this scholarship may attend any university, college, or other type of institution of advanced learning or training. Applicant must have attained a grade point average of 2.5 or better.

CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: Any student who plans to further his or her education in a recognized vocational school, college or university on a full-time basis providing the applicant has a G.P.A. of 3.0 or better. The applicant's character, personality, and educational objectives will be considered.

SAUL HAATAJA SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: Any Keweenaw County senior planning to attend a university, college, or trade school. Grade point average or 2.5 or better.

C-L-K ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: This scholarship has been established at Michigan Technological University for a Calumet High School graduate with a high degree of academic excellence. The student must have a grade point average of 3.0 or better and must enroll at Michigan Technological University. The scholarship may be awarded on a renewable basis if a 3.0 grade point average is maintained for each academic year at MTU.

JOSHUA HEINONEN SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: The recipient of this scholarship may attend any university, college, or other type of institution of advanced learning or training, except the U.S. Armed Forces. The recipient is to have attended Calumet High School for at least one full school year. Applicants must have attained a grade point average of 2.5 or better. The recipient of this scholarship will be asked to make a voluntary contribution to this scholarship fund sometime after their graduation from college, training school, etc., at their convenience. The recipient of this scholarship must be disabled so as to be distinctive and set apart from the typical graduating senior. (Ex. Diabetes, Polio, Muscular Dystrophy, AIDS, or some other crippling disease/injury or emotional disorder such as Dyslexia or Attention Deficit Disorder.)

ROBERT E. HOLMSTROM SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: The recipient of this scholarship may attend any university, college, or other type of institution of advanced learning or training, except the U.S. Armed Forces. The recipient is to have attended Calumet High School for at least one full school year and have participated in varsity football for a minimum of one full season. The scholarship will be based in part on the student's character, personality, participation in extra-curricular activities, scholastic ability and financial need. Applicants must have attained a grade point average of 2.5 or better.

THE DOC MASSOGLIA AWARD

Eligibility: Any student who plans to pursue a career with a four year degree in Business Accounting, Finance, Management or the medical profession. The applicant must have a 7th semester grade point average of at least 2.5. The applicant's character, personality, participation in extra-curricular activities, employment record, and community activities will be considered.

THE JEAN M. JEFFERY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: Any student pursuing a career in the education profession with a grade point average of 2.5 or better.

INDEPENDENT ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS

Eligibility: The recipient of this scholarship may attend any university, college, or other type of institution of advanced learning or training, i.e.. nursing, beautician, technical training, automotive training, or enroll in a program leading to a baccalaureate degree. The recipient must have attended Calumet High School for at least one full school year. The student's character, scholastic ability and need will be taken into consideration. The student must have a G.P.A. of at least 2.5.

MARION L. MOYLE SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: Any student who plans to pursue a career in the medical profession. Grade point average of 2.5 or better.

CLARE HELEN MUGFORD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: Any student who plans to pursue a career in the nursing profession. It is expected the student will obtain R.N. Certification. The applicant's character, personality, participation in extra-curricular activities, employment record, community activities and financial need will be considered. The applicant must have attained at G.P.A. of at least 3.0.

JAMIE LYNN JURMU MEMORIAL SCHOLARHIP

Eligibility: Any student who plans to attend any university or college to receive a degree in the field of nursing. The student must provide a personal essay discussing the student's aspirations in the nursing field and his/her career objectives. It should include the student's interests, achievements and talents in the school, home, church and community. In the event that a nursing candidate is not available at any given school year, a student pursuing a degree in elementary education will be considered. The recipient is to have attended Calumet High School for at least one full school year. The applicant's character, personality, and participation in athletic activities, with preference to cheerleading will be given. The recipient will be requested to consider making a voluntary contribution to this scholarship fund following their college graduation. It is the desire of the Jurmu Family to extend Jamie's unconditional love and willingness to help others, especially younger children, by awarding this scholarship to a student who could help to fulfill Jamie's dreams.

MATTHEW L. AND CATHERINE T. KROLL SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS

Upper Peninsula Power Company - Eligibility: The applicant must be planning to immediately pursue a 4-year course of study at an accredited college and have participated in the ROTC program at Calumet High School and will participate in the ROTC program at the college of his or her choice with the intent of becoming an officer upon graduation.

Toledo Edison Company and Consumers Power Company

Eligibility: The applicant must be planning to immediately pursue a career in one of the ancillary medical care professions with top priority given to the applicant planning to pursue a course of nurses training leading to a degree as a registered nurse at any accredited school of nursing.

THE FRANCIS F. STERK SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: Any student, irrespective of age, race, religion, sex or ethnic group, who plans to pursue a baccalaureate degree from any 4-year institution in any field. The applicant's character, personality, participation in extra-curricular activities, employment record and community activities will be considered. The recipient is to have attended Calumet High School for at least one full school year. The applicant must have attained a G.P.A. of 2.5 or better.

CALUMET LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: The recipient may attend any facility of higher education, advanced learning or training; vocational, college or university level. The recipient is to have attended Calumet High School for at least one year. The award will be without regard to age, race, religion, sex or ethnic group. The applicant must have attained a G.P.A. of 2.5 or better.

CURT TWARDZIK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: The recipient may attend any accredited university, college, technical college, or junior college. The recipient is to have attended Calumet High School for at least one full year and special consideration will be given to applicants from Keweenaw County. The applicant's character, personality, and participation in athletic activities will be considered. The student must provide a personal statement limited to one sheet and accompany the application. The essay should discuss the student's field of study including the reason for pursuing the field as well as the students interests, achievements, and talents in the school, home, church and community. This scholarship will be renewed annually for a maximum of four years providing the student maintains a minimum 2.5 G.P.A. and is a full time student.

RAYMOND G. POMROY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: The recipient of this scholarship may attend any university, college or other type of institution of advanced learning or training. The recipient is to have attended Calumet High School for at least one full school year. The scholarship is to be based in part on the student's character, scholastic ability, and financial need.

MARVIN A. NIEMI SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: Any student irrespective or age, race, religion, sex or ethnic group, who plans to pursue a baccalaureate degree from Michigan Technological University in Forest Resources or Environmental or Civil Engineering (Surveying) is eligible. The applicant's character, personality, participation in extra-curricular activities, employment record and community activities will be considered. The recipient is to have attended Calumet High School for at least one full school year, and have attained at 3:0 G.P.A. or better.
