Warehouse Renovation Project Addendum # 1 – 4/26/13

In attendance:

Discussed in the meeting was the following:

  • All communication with the College is through Frank Ryan at
  • This is a Wicks Law Project.
  • Contractors must pay Prevailing wage Rates, and provide certified payroll
  • All workers must be in a NYS DOL approved apprenticeship program.

  • Sequence of activities College staff is responsible to remove computers, phones, copiers, and all furniture during each phase.
  • Fire Alarm – All fire alarm work will be done by Simplex and is not part of this contract documentation will be part of the next addenda.
  • Inspections – Bidders may schedule inspections by contacting Khalid Omari 631-451- 4729 /203-545-6085
  • Authority having Jurisdiction – The Suffolk county Fire Marshal is the AHJ.
  • Specified materials/equipment – The use of materials or equipment other than what is specified must be approved by the architect or engineer or record.

Request for Information / Clarifications:

Electrical:

1 Question:Drawing E.101 indicates thirty-four (34) 2’x4’ fixtures to be removed for re-use, but drawing E.103 indicates forty-two (42) 2’x4’ fixtures to be re-installed. Where do the extra fixtures come from?

Answer:Drawings (attached with this addenda) have bee revised to address these issues.

2 Question:Drawing E.102 indicates eighteen (18) FSD’s. Drawing E.109 indicates eight (8) FSD’s. Please clarify.

Answer:Drawings (attached with this addenda) have bee revised to address these issues.

3 Question:Drawing E.109 states all work on that drawing shall be Alternate #1. However, the written description of the Alternate in the specification states that the Alternate is to wire the tamper and water flow switches. To further confuse the issue, there is a discrepancy regarding the quantity of tamper switches between the FP drawings and the E drawings. There is also a discrepancy regarding the quantity of FSD’s between drawings E.102, E.109 and M.103. Please rectify the quantities and clarify what is in the base bid and what is in the Alternate.

Answer:Drawings (attached with this addenda) have bee revised to address these issues.

4 Question:Regarding Unit Price #18, which fixture type are you referring to?

Answer:Unit Price #18 shall apply to light fixtures type A

General Contractor:

  1. Question:Window specs calls out for Kawneer 8225TL , however the drawing detail shows 8225 TL windows within a storefront frame. Which way should this be priced out at, also what is the finish, color or clear anodized?

Answer:Specifications Section 08510 – Aluminum Windows, Part 2 – Products, 2.1 Manufacturers, paragraph B. Basis for Project Design, After the words “ AAMA designation AW 70” insert the following “, Kawneer Tri-Fab 451T (fixed sash)”.

The intent is to have the operable sash within a fixed storefront frame, in order to maximize glazed areas at the fixed (non-operable) window locations. Most of the windows are non-operable.

For aluminum window finish refer to paragraph 2.6 F in Specifications Section 08510

  1. Question:Who will be responsible for patching openings in metal wall and roof. Will each trade (Primes ) be responsible for their openings?

Answer: Specifications Section 01045 – Cutting and Patching, Part 1 – General, 1.1 Summary, Delete paragraph B. and insert new paragraph B in its place:

“B. For all interior work, each Contractor shall do all cutting, fitting and patching in connection with his work that may be required to make its several parts come together properly and fit to receive or be received by work of other Contractors and subcontractors as shown or reasonably implied by the Construction Documents. Cutting and patching of exterior metal walls and roof shall be performed by Contract No. 1”

  1. Question:G.C will perform selective demo. All M E P ‘s will be by the respective trades.

Answer: Specifications Section 02070 – Selective Demolition, Part 3 – Execution, 3.4 Demolition General, after paragraph E insert new paragraph F:

“F. Each Contractor shall be responsible for the demolition work shown on their respective drawings.’

  1. Questions:Are there any asbestos to be encountered upon demolition?

Answer:Asbestos abatement will be performed by the College - (Survey report is attached to as part of this addenda).

  1. Questions:Will the college do the utility mark outs for the concrete pad at the Gantry area?

Answer:Yes

  1. Question:Is there a spec on the eye bolt to be used at the gantry pad?

Answer: Drawing A.100; See detail at bottom right of drawing and Note no. 8 at left side of drawing.

  1. Question:Who installs the Gantry?

Answer:College is responsible for the supply and installation of the Gantries.

  1. Question:Drawing A-100 Detail 2 shows the reinforcing wire “WWR 4X4- W 13.8 X W 13.8”, Please clarify what the W-13.8 represents.

Answer: Drawing A.100 Detail 2, change the designation of the welded wire reinforcement from “4 x 4 - W 13.8 X W 13.8” to “W4 x W4 @ 4” on centers both ways”.

  1. Questions:Dock levelers remain, only the dock bumpers are being replaced, correct?

Answer: Correct. The dock levelers are to remain. The dock bumpers are to be replaced by Contract No.1.

  1. Questions:Finish schedule A-904 indicates Hunter Douglas blinds, but does not identify locations, please clarify and provide spec.

Answer: Finish Schedule Drawing A.904, Finish Manufacturer Legend, Interior; at the Location/ Remarks box, in the “Blinds” section, add the following:

“Provide aluminum blinds at every new window. ‘Celebrity’ 1” aluminum, 6 gauge slats with cord lock operation. Color as selected by the College from the manufacturer’s standard colors.”

  1. Questions:Please advise if this involves a PEMB or metal walls or roof panels.

Answer: This is a renovation to an existing metal building (not made by Butler) a substantial portion of the work involves working with metal roof and wall panels. Basically the building consists of two sloped roof metal buildings that were joined into one. This construction method resulted in a roof valley down the center of the building. The valley creates leaks. The project uses a Butler designed modification to the roof that eliminates the valley. The project also includes replacement windows, doors, repairs to wall panels, and some interior work.

  1. Questions:What type of flooring is in this project?

Answer: Painted Concrete floor see Finish Schedule Drawing A9.04
