1Primary Job Purpose

Coordinate and build the <congregation> Uniting Church playgroups and music programs to become sustainable into the future.

5SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

5.1Capacity and willingness to work within the ethos of the Uniting Church

5.2From time to time, flexibility of hours is necessary, generally between 8am and 6 pm on weekday

5.3Satisfactory Criminal History and Working with Children checks

6.1Qualifications and Experience

6.1.1.Relevant qualifications in children’s services or equivalent industry experience

6.1.2.Experience working with children and families

6.1.3.Experience in planning and running children’s activities

6.1.4.An understanding of the structure of the Uniting Church in Australia desirable

6.1.5.Experience and expertise in MS Office suite

6.2Skills and abilities

6.2.1.Excellent intuition and ability to recognise and respond to children’s needs

6.2.2.Excellent written and verbal communication skills

7Key Responsibilities, Tasks And Outcomes

7.1

/ Advertising and Promotion / To promote playgroups and music programs in appropriate venues around the <city> Congregation / Playgroups and Music programs of the congregation are adequately promoted

7.2

/ Administration / To receive and manage phone enquiries for children’s playgroups and music groups professionally and efficiently and direct enquiries to the appropriate coordinator
To manage enrolments for playgroups and music groups, maintain the waiting lists and communicate details to the appropriate leaders / All communication and records are accurate and professionally presented

7.3

/ Playgroups / To attend, plan and lead Monday and Tuesday playgroups at ATK
To coordinate with volunteers of Monday and Tuesday’s playgroups at ATK and encourage parents to become involved in the support of groups eg. providing morning tea
To liaise and support other congregation playgroup leaders and purchase materials
To creatively think and collaborate about developing a sustainable plan for playgroups into the future / ATK Monday and Tuesday Playgroups are run and well maintained
All playgroups are resourced appropriately and coordinators feel supported
A sustainable model for playgroups is created

/ Kids Hope, Fresh, CRE, Focus / To connect with these ministries and missions and build relationships with the coordinators / Strong and supportive relationships are formed with the coordinators

/ Networking / To network with the wider UCA including Synod
To connect with the children and family related agencies, organisation and community groups in the congregation area
To connect with and build relationship with the school chaplains / Involvement in wider UCA activities.
Build a visible connection with children and family related agencies, organisation and community groups in the congregation area (eg. Schools, kindergartens and libraries)

/ Build new initiatives / To seek out new initiatives and relationships within playgroups and music programs of the congregation and support these into action
To work closely with the MCDW on new initiatives / New connections and initiatives are born
