TICHENOR MIDDLE SCHOOL ATHLETICS EXPECTATIONS

Player Expectations:

1. Excel in the classroom. You will either pay the price now, or you’ll pay a bigger price later. If you can’t pass, you can’t play.

2. Be ready to practice promptly at our start times. If needed, show up a few minutes early to get yourself ready.

3. If you have to miss or be late to a practice or a game please let your coach know in advance. A commitment to attend all workouts, practices and games is expected.

4. Respect of the coaches, players, and officials is expected at all times. Breaking of this rule will result in consequences determined by the coaching staff or TMS administration.

5. Players must be able to accept constructive criticism without excuses.

6. Players are to always give their best in practice and games to improve upon their level of play. We play as we practice; always give 100% when on the floor.

7. Players must always put the team first. A player must accept decisions that are made for the good of the team.

8. NEVER GIVE UP!!! Winners never quit and quitters never win.

9. Positively represent Tichenor Middle School with pride as an athlete, in the classroom, and in the community.

Parent Expectations:

1. Parents will conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all Athletic functions.

2. Parents are to attend as many games as possible throughout the season to support their child. Allow coaches to do the coaching while players are in and out of the game.

3. Parents are to be supportive of their child’s play and participation in Athletics regardless of their role on the team.

4. Parents are to discuss any conflicts in a private session and not in a public manner. Please do this on non-game days. Or contact the Athletic Director.

5. Parents are to be supportive of the Tichenor Athletic Programs and its endeavors on behalf of their child.

6. Parents are to assist the coaching staff in making sure that all team members receive the amount of nutrition and rest needed to perform at their best level.

Coaches Expectations:

1. Coaches are to create a safe environment for all players.

2. Coaches are to have the best interest of the team first.

3. Coaches are to administer discipline to help create a strong learning environment.

4. Coaches are to behave as role models in and out of the school building.

5. Coaches are to conduct themselves in a professional manner with parents.

6. Coaches will understand that the life lessons learned are far more important than the wins and losses of the season.

7. As coaches, we should each be the type of coach that we would want our own sons or daughters to play for.

8. Coaches will not lose sight of the fact that sports are a game and it should be fun!
