Plantation at rear of Balmoral Road, Mountsorrel.
Thinning of plantation at rear of even numbered houses between 80 and 140 Balmoral Road, Mountsorrel (Balmoral Road Plantation), and construction of habitat piles from brush wood (Winter 2012/13).
Thank you for your expression of interest in respect of thinning works at the Balmoral Road Plantation. As discussed, fifty percent of the trees in the plantation should be removed with priority being given to those trees which will attain the greatest size on maturity (ash, poplar etc.) and those closest to the boundary of properties. All trees should be felled to ground level and brush wood should be stacked in neat habitat piles in the centre of the plantation, away from the neighbouring properties. All timber to be retained by the contractor. The work is to be completed no later than 1st March 2013.
Health and Safety
All works are to be carried out in accordance with BS3998 (2010) and a Method Statement along with a Risk Assessment should be submitted.
The site is adjacent to private houses and all appropriate measures must be taken to ensure a safe environment for the general public and operatives alike.
You are asked to provide proof that:
1. You are fully covered by Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance
2. Any work undertaken is to be carried out by fully qualified persons in possession of the relevant levels of competences.
Great care should be exercised whilst carrying out the specified work. Any damage to any part of the woodland or to the neighbouring properties must be reported to the Supervising Officer at the time of the incident.
You will be required to meet a Supervising Officer from Charnwood Borough Council on site when requested.
Please ensure that the site is free from utility services or other hazards before commencing the work.
