Next Generation Science Standard Project-3

Students are to choose one of the following topics to complete their project.Your project is to create a model based on the topic of your choice. Choose from the following:

oBuild a 3D model or a working model, both of which should be labeled.

oDraw and label a model on a poster.

oAct out the model with props, as a dance, or a skit on a video

oCreate a video to use as a model.

oCreate (draw & color) a comic strip with a minimum 15 different slides or panels

Students will have a check point midweek during their NBI to ensure they are taking responsibility and not procrastinating.

Projects are due 2 weeks after they are assigned (2-17) Students may turn in projects late but will receive 10 points off for the first day late and another 5 points off for each day up to 4 days (max grade of a 70%) then no more projects will be accepted.

It doesn’t hurt to turn in early. PROJECTS ARE DUE MARCH 3RD ***BONUS POINTS FOR NEXT TEST HAVE PARENTS SIGN THIS FORM SOMEWHERE AND RETURN TO ME***EARNS YOU 5 POINTS

Topic 1-Climate-The energy from the Sun that drives climate of various location on the Earth. Students must include the 4 air masses, the local wind(sea breeze vs land breeze) and global wind (westerlies, easterlies, trade winds, doldrums). These changes in air are caused by unequal heating so students need to include and visually show the tilt of the Earth and the 4 seasons. Everything in BOLD must be included

Topic2- (Current Material)-Weather- The energy from the sun that drives weather of various locations on the Earth. Students must include fronts and what type of weather they bring, 2 types of air pressure and what type of weather they bring, the 4 types of precipitation, and the 8 types of clouds.

Final Project- ADVANCED STUDENTS ONLY- YOUR WRITTEN PORTION MUST BE TYPED & NO POSTERS

3.All parts of the process are clearly seen and all words are included (30 pts) Must be neat

4.Project shows student’s understanding of the chosen topic (30 pts) Show your creativity. Points will be taken off if you just write out words & definitionsTurn this paper in with project. If missing -5
