APRIL MEETING

Day:Sunday, April 20, 2008Time:10am-12pm

Place: Ventura Koi Farm Program:Grand Opening

April 1, 2008, Reuters News Service, New York

Researchers at ColumbiaUniversity recently released a report on Global Warming and Greenhouse Gasses. A pollutant, Dihydrogen Monoxide (DHMO), is now considered the most powerful and dangerous greenhouse gas. Clear, colorless, odorless and tasteless,it is not only responsible for climate change but is so caustic that it makes most metals corrode. Each year thousands of people die from inhaling it. In small doses it is also so addictive that people who are addicted will die from withdrawal if the do not get a dose for more than two or three days. Also known as Hydrogen Hydroxide, exposure to the solid form can cause the loss of fingers, toes, ears, and noses. DHMO is often used in aquaculture and the Koi hobby. Hobbyists are cautioned to use great care in the handling of this material and especially to avoid inhaling it.

Well, another great show is in the record books. Each year the quality of the Koi seems to get better and better. Thank you to all the volunteers and vendors who make this show possible.

“Dear Club Members and Friends of ZNA SoCal Chapter,

I would like to thank you all and the City of Gardena for helping to make our 34th Annual Koi Show a GREAT success! Forty hobbyists occupied sixty show tanks with346 of the most stunning show fish in the country. It was very difficult for head judges Mr. Suzuki, Motoda, and Reilly to make the winning decisions. They wereassisted by our other esteemed judges Vergil Hettick, Grant Fujita, Junichi Kayano, Dick Thomas, and Erwin Santos.

The show ran extremely smooth thanks to the efforts of computer expert, David Young, and all the other show volunteers who worked diligently throughout the day. Also, a big Thank You to Shinkokai members who professionally handled all the fish inour show.

The success of our show was the result of a tremendous joint effortfromeveryone involved!

Thank you again and see you next year,

Don Kobashigawa, President ZNA SoCal Chapter”
