Faculty,

The Community Involvement Center (CIC) has recently created a set of training modules and quizzes for all students engaged in service, whether through a service-learning course, AmeriCorps, or personal choice. The purpose of the training is to better prepare students for their volunteer experience prior to going out into the community.

The modules are a set of eight. Each tailored to a different subject. Feel free to use one or all of them. Additionally each module has a corresponding quiz attached to it. The purpose of the quizzesare totest students'understanding of the modules. If a student passes the quizzes with an 80% or higher they will receive a certificate of completion that proves they have successfully gone through the module and understood its content.

The CIC would like to encourage all of you to use this new resource in your classrooms. The benefits of doing so are two-fold; students focus less time on understanding their volunteer role while on site in the community, and students dedicate more time to actual volunteerism and learning.

In this packet there are two documents; one goes over the benefits of the modules, the other goes over how to access the modules on our website. These documents will provide you with the necessary information to use the modules in your classrooms. However, if you would prefer more information or a face-to-face consultation, please contact Brenda Kowalewski in the Community Involvement Center at 801.626.7737

Thank you for your time.

Regards,

The Community Involvement Center
