Pilot Point Family & Friends of the FFA & 4-H Scholarship

Application

The purpose of this scholarship program is to award educational financial assistance to students. We want to see these scholarship recipients succeed in earning the degree of their choosing. Toward this goal, this scholarship is intended to recognize students within the local PilotPointFFA & 4-H programs that possess and display outstanding qualities in leadership, contest participation, and community involvement. GPA, SAT, and class ranking will not be the primary factors in the selection process.

To apply for this scholarship a student must be a graduating senior, have participated in FFA and/or 4-H activities, complete the attached application, and submit it for review. Additionally the applicant must attend a personal interview between the applicant and the scholarship review board. The applicant must also be willing to provide or have their photo and name published in local papers and related announcements.

Applications must be completed and returned to Mrs. Glascock by 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 2, 2017. NO LATE applications accepted.

Interviews, approximately 10-15 minutes in duration, will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, beginning at 6:00 p.m.; order for interviews will be drawn at that time.

Scholarship winners will be announced at Rosecutting.

Application available on the “Scholarships” tab in the Counselors Corner of the PPHS website and in the “Scholarship” folder on the Q:\ drive on the school computers; you may also request it to be e-mailed to you or provided on a disc.

The application must:

Be typed

Filled out completely

Have all required signatures

You may retype the application in your own word processor and reformat the text as desired, but the wording of all questions must remain intact and in the proper order. This cover sheet must be returned with the application.

If any part of the application is incomplete, turned in late, or if the interview is missed, the application will be rejected and not valid for consideration.

The scholarship funds will be paid directly to the chosen college, university, or accredited technical institution after verification of enrollment and not to the scholarship winner directly. It is mandatory the recipient attend a minimum of six (6) hours in the fall or spring semester immediately following their selection as a scholarship recipient. Scholarship must be claimed by November 1 for fall payment of $125 and April 1 for spring payment of $125. Any scholarship funds not claimed by April 1 will be forfeited and no longer available to the applicant.
