Call for Nominations: AIHF Scholarship Advisory Committee
American Industrial Hygiene Foundation (AIHF)

Nominations are now being accepted for the AIHF Scholarship Advisory Committee.

Purpose

The purpose of the committee is to select scholarship recipients who fit the program’s criteria and eligibility. Recipient selection is based on a number of factors, including grades, drive, desire, talent, quality of character, and financial needs. Scholarship advisors bring to the selection process a commitment to a career path in the profession as well as the benefits of their experience, diversity, and knowledge.

Nominations will be accepted until close of business on Wednesday, November 30, 2016.

Duties

· Works in conjunction with the AIHF staff manager.

· Reviews all AIHF scholarship applications and determine scholarship recipients.

· Recommends revisions to the scholarship application/evaluation process as needed.

· Make recommendations to the Board of Trustees in establishing and/or modifying scholarship criteria and eligibility.

· Promote/raise the visibility of the AIHF scholarship program professionally and academically.

· Attends committee-related meetings as required, both face-to-face and via conference call.

· Issues written reports to the Board of Trustees as required.

· Serve as a PAL to scholarship recipients that attend AIHce.

Time Commitment

January: Town hall committee conference call.

March: Review and grade scholarship applications via conference call; determine award recipients; contact award recipients.

May: Committee conference call; determine scholarship recipient PAL assignments for those attending AIHce 2017; contact PAL assignee.

June: AIHF Donors Reception (at AIHce 2017); meet with PAL assignee.

August: Committee conference call.

November: Committee conference call.

Criteria

· AIHA member in good standing.

· Dedicated to the AIHF core focus areas of work—donor development and relations, fundraising, and scholarships.

· Is a current AIHF donor or be willing to become a donor in order to establish a culture of giving that will inspire others to give.

· A commitment to the time required to serve.

· A commitment to diversity and inclusiveness.

· Prepared to disclose in writing any potential conflicts of interest.

Accountability

· Accountable to the AIHF Board of Trustees.

· Agrees to uphold and abide by AIHF Code of Regulations (Bylaws), policy, volunteer code of conduct, and financial policies and procedures.

· Treat the committee’s deliberations and recommendations as confidential.

· Have a completed Conflict of Interest form on file.

Conflict of Interest (COI )

A committee member has a conflict of interest if:

· The member is related by blood, marriage, or adoption to a scholarship applicant;

· The member will receive a direct or indirect financial benefit from recommending a scholarship to a particular applicant;

· The member has a personal, business, or academic relationship with a scholarship applicant, or any other reason, the member exerts influence to recommend a recipient without regard to the scholarship criteria.

If a member has an actual or potential conflict of interest concerning A committee member has a conflict of interest if:

· The member is related by blood, marriage, or adoption to a scholarship applicant;

· The member will receive a direct or indirect financial benefit from recommending a scholarship to a particular applicant;

· The member has a personal, business, or academic relationship with a scholarship applicant, or any other reason, the member exerts influence to recommend a recipient without regard to the scholarship criteria.

If a member has an actual or potential conflict of interest concerning an applicant, the member will disclose the conflict to the committee. The member shall not discuss the scholarship applicant with anyone on the committee and will not participate in any committee deliberations concerning that applicant.
