Rev. Lucinda Martin

Wedding Officiant

This is a letter suggesting a few things you may want to review prior to our first consultation. I hope this is helpful in supporting you in the process of creating your dream wedding, and meaningful ceremony.

If you haven't already, you may want to begin creating an "Image File";

Pictures from magazines, poems - even a "to do list"

A journaling of ideas - copies of writings: poems and/or quotes

Bring anything that assists you in the gestation of your ideas. This might be images that represent your feelings or desired theme for your ceremony.

Another way to begin formulating your vision might be sitting in a quiet place with a cup of tea and lit candle. After a few deep cleansing breaths, imagine your day… what is it you wish to communicate to your spouse? If you have family and friends as witness of this precious moment, what do you wish to say to them; perhaps expressions of gratitude for their support?

How do you feel about speaking your words aloud? If it is too uncomfortable would you prefer your message to beread by a close friend, family member or me? Perhaps a reading of a poem or something you have created?

If you desire any Spiritual components, think about some rituals that may serve you in this way:

Unity Candle, Unity Sand Ceremony

Hand Fasting, Hand Blessing Water Ceremony

Jumping the Broom

Glass Breaking Ceremony

Wine or Tea Ceremony

Special Musical Performance or Song by friend or family member

Readings fromspiritual traditions or poetry

We will explore this in the consultation. And, if you are considering writing your own vows (like personal words or a love letter) I have materials to help you do this, and will coach you in the process.

Another component to include is a reading; classic and contemporary poetry might be considered. If you like this idea, I have quite a few to email you for your review and selection. Or, once I get to know you during the consultation I will make some recommendations for you.

These are just a few thoughts for you to contemplate. You might want to do this togetheror separately, and then share your ideas of what you envision. Allow plenty of time, free of interruptions, so you may truly enjoy this process.

If you already know what you want - great - we'll just get right down to the details and put it all on paper so we are clear on how your ceremony will unfold for you.

Whatever you decide – it will be perfect… because it will be a reflection of you; a couple in love that have crossed the threshold of marital commitment.

Kind regards,

Lucinda
