______

For your success, we recommend purchasing the following supplies and setting up brooder prior to poultry arrival,

Starter Feed, Brooder Lamp, Heat Light Bulb (Red for layers, clear for meat production), Feeder, Waterer, Litter-Shavings, Brooder-Container, Soluble Probiotics and Electrolytes. (waterer should not permit chicks to get soaked)

Caution – Heat Lamp safety is a must. Use porcelain socket brooder with heat lamps, insure brooder has a protective wire guard installed, devise a secure means to mount and adjust the height of the lamp to properly control brooder temperature. Temperature can be lowered 1-degree each day by raising the height of the brooder lamp until it reaches the ambient temperature where brooder is located inside or out. Without using a brooder thermometer, monitoring birds will indicate proper temperature (example – if birds are gathered directly under the lamp, they are too cold, if they are as far away as possible, they are too hot). They should be evenly scattered in the brooder using a 20-gal. plastic storage container is an adequate size for @ 25 birds and a 40-gal. container for up to 50 birds for the 1st few weeks.
