Call to Order: Mark Morgan called the meeting to order at 12:00 noon. MBA members introduced themselves. A moment of silence was observed in honor of Harry Koons.

Education Corner: Amy Barton of PNC Bank spoke on the topic of credit card security issues. She urged all members who either use or take credit cards in their business to be aware of security breaches. She noted that October, 2015, is the deadline for replacing all cards with a magnetic strip.

Guest Speakers: Moorestown Township Public Schools Superintendent Tim Rehm spoke about issues concerning the Moorestown public schools, including a new committee formed to address the revenue deficits in the district. This revenue-generating committee, which is represented by some of our MBA members, will reach out to local businesses for advertising opportunities.

Membership Report: Don Powell announced that we have a record number of 291 members who have renewed for 2014. The directory will be delivered to 10,000 homes and businesses in the coming weeks.

Social Committee: The next MBA Happy Hour event will be held on Thursday, June 5, at Long and Foster/Prosperity Mortgage on Main Street in Moorestown. Chair Marybeth Caracci encouraged the membership to attend and urged them to bring guests for the best networking possibilities.

New Business:

A motion was made by Mark Morgan to fill in Harry Koon’s term due to his recent passing. It was agreed by the BOD on May 7, 2014, that Mary Zoltowski (Moorestown Flower Shop) would be asked to serve the remainder of his term until December, 2014. Mary accepted the offer and at today’s meeting the motion was seconded by Josh Lipson and voted on unanimously.

Moorestown Day

Co-Chair of Moorestown Day, Gina Zegel, spoke about the upcoming event scheduled for Saturday, June 7. She asked for volunteers for set-up in the a.m. and breakdown after the conclusion of the event.

A motion was made by Mark Morgan and seconded by Steven Pazienza to approve the minutes from the April 16, 2014 General Membership Meeting. They were approved and voted on unanimously.

A motion was made by Mark Morgan and seconded by Jerry Logue to adjourn the meeting at 1:20 p.m.

The next MBA General Membership Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at 7:30 a.m.
