Deputy Director of Museum Operations

Duties include project management. Mechanical design,engineering and fabrication. Finishing and handling of fossil specimens, articulation and fabrication of fossil mounts. All in accordance with accepted museum preparation and restoration standards.

Projects include:

  • Perot Museum of Nature and Science, Dallas –Project Manager overseeing all aspects of design and coordination with curators and clients including budgeting and master scheduling.
  • Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County – Responsibilities include the safe disarticulation and packing of mounted specimens onsite as well asinstallation of remounted specimens in the museum. Development of specialized rigging and crating used in the transfer of fossil material between Los Angeles, New Jersey, and Pittsburgh. Studio and onsite activities including client communication, development of budgets and schedules.Oversees staff responsible for preparation and restoration of jacketed fossil material at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History’s PaleoLab. Design/development of Pleisiosaur plaque mount life-size juvenile Trex interactive puzzle, which was molded and cast from the museum’s existing specimen.
  • State Museum of Pennsylvania – Design of mounting systems and construction for Mastodon, Camarasaurus plaque, and Phytosaur diorama. In addition, communicates with clients, developsbudgets, and master scheduling for project.
  • East Tennessee State University Gray Fossil Site Visitor’s Center– Fabricated mounts for specimens, on-site installation of completed work
  • Carnegie Museum of Natural History–Responsibilities included disarticulation & rearticulation of specimens, design and construction of specialized rigging used to move, stabilize and reinstall fish plaque. In addition, attended weekly meetings at the museum to provide a local point-of-contact for their staff and communicates with the museum personnel, other project contractors and fellow employees to ensure that the project runs smoothly.

Responsibilities included all aspects of design, fabrication and repair of interactive exhibits, as well as development and integration of interactive artwork.
