Primary Purpose of the Job / To maximise visitor enjoyment of the site by maintaining the highest possible standards of site presentation and customer care; and ensuring that the site and its assets are safe, healthy, hygiene and well presented.

Principal Responsibilities / 1.  The provision of cleaning services to ensure the highest possible customer care, presentation standards and a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors and event guests, at all times.
2.  Protection of property (listed buildings and machinery, technical exhibition and business equipment) through application of correct and timely cleaning products, equipment and technique.
3.  To achieve these aims through effective teamwork with staff, volunteers and stakeholders.
MAIN DUTIES
Specific responsibilities include:
1.  Cleaning, wiping, washing, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, polishing and vacuum cleaning of designated areas, surfaces, equipment, fixtures, fittings, furniture and furnishings to the required standard. This includes within:
·  All office, commercial hire and indoor public-access areas.
·  All toilet and washroom facilities.
·  All retail and exhibition areas.
·  All staff kitchen areas.
2.  Removal of litter and debris (i.e. chewing gum), emptying bins and disposal of waste to designated areas.
3.  Using powered equipment where necessary (scrubbing machines, wet pick-up machines, vacuum cleaners), and re-sealing of surfaces as required and appropriate.
4.  Urgently responding to emergencies; clearing up and cleaning after accidents and incidents i.e. flooding.
5.  Undertake any other duties which may reasonably be regarded as within the nature of the duties and responsibilities/grade of the post as defined, subject to the proviso that normally any changes of a permanent nature shall be incorporated into the job description in specific terms.
6.  Undertake training as required and use cleaning products and equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions, COSHH assessments and Heartlands Trust policies and Health and Safety regulations.
7.  To maximise visitor enjoyment of the site and ensure that all exhibits, fixtures, fittings and premises are maintained to a consistently high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
8.  To provide consistently high standards of visitor care at all times when welcoming visitors to the site; answering visitors’ queries and providing information about the site.
9.  To respond to complaints; listen to feedback from our visitors and to ensure that it is used positively to influence and develop the organisation and its activities.
10.  To work as part of a wider team across the Heartlands Trust to deliver organisational objectives.
11.  To take responsibility for your own personal development and to share your learning with others.
12.  To be an advocate for the Heartlands Trust and to promote the aims of the organisation.

Experience in delivering cleaning services preferably in a public access environment.

British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc):
·  Cleaning Operators Proficiency Certificate (COPC) or
·  Food Premises Cleaning Certificate (FPCC)
First Aid certificate
3. Work Related Circumstances
Must be flexible and able and willing to work extra hours and weekends, bank holidays and evenings when required to meet seasonal, event and visitor demands.
The post involves working with young children and vulnerable adults and therefore, under the rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, all applicants who are offered employment will be subject to a criminal record check from the Criminal Records Bureau before their appointment is confirmed.
Must live within reasonable travelling distance to the site
4. Physical/Health Requirements
Person appointed must be able to access all public areas of the property including stairwells, confined spaces, heights etc.
Work will involve repetitive arm movements, bending and kneeling, reaching and lifting, pushing and pulling, and walking and standing.
Work may involve reasonable lifting of heavy / bulky objects within the published health & safety guidelines on manual handling.
