PERMISSION TO ATTEND DECA INTERNATIONALS

ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA

Students and parents/guardians are to carefully read this document about changes to the ICDC reservation and registration process. The ICDC Registration package is now available online at DECA.ca  Events  ICDC.

On February 11, at the end of each awards presentation, winners must tell DECA Ontario whether they can attend ICDC. If any of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd place winners etc. students cannot attend, the next placed student is eligible and is asked to go. Occasionally it has gone to 8th and 9th place winners, so that is the reason why the top 10 medalists in each event will be asked to come out to the Grand Ballroom foyer immediately after they receive their medals on stage.

We must request a commitment from you now. Be proactive and talk to your parents. Look at April and the timing of your cumulative projects before the Provincials competition because you will be asked and you must answer yes or no as to your intent for 2017 ICDC. You will not have any time to think about it then – think about it now. We must know whether you will agree to go to Anaheim based on permission from your parents/guardians and your class commitments.

Will you be able to:

1.  Academically, afford a week away from school;

2.  Have the appropriate documentation to cross the border; and,

3.  Pay approximately $1 650 for travel and lodging. This may be higher if you require us to find you a chaperone and your DECA advisor is personally not attending. NO student can attend Internationals without a chaperone/teacher. Chaperones, as do Advisors, will pay between $1 800 to $2 600 to go to Anaheim.

Full payment will be due March 1, 2017. No deposit is required now. If you qualify and you agree to go, and you say yes and cancel the next day, there will be a $100 processing fee assessed for your cancellation.

Please sign in either the Yes or the No section box, and return this form and to your advisor by Wednesday, February 1, 2017.
