Residents are permitted to keep pets in the village, but permission is subject to local government regulations and the specific rules and by-laws of the village. Permission must be obtained prior to the pet being brought into the village.

Permission is also required for short-term ‘minding’ arrangements.

Permission may be withdrawn if pets are not kept in accordance with the Pet Ownership Rules.

1 Standard Rules:

Ø  Pets must be kept and cared for in accordance with local government regulations.

Ø  Pets must not create unreasonable noise or nuisance

Ø  Caged birds must not disrupt the quiet enjoyment of other residents.

Ø  Cats and Dogs must be de-sexed and vaccinated and kept in a clean condition.

Ø  Cats are to be kept inside the owner’s premises after dark.

Ø  Cats are to wear a bell on a collar at all times.

Ø  Dogs must be kept under control and on a leash at all times in common areas of the village.

Ø  For the safety of all residents in the village, no other types of animals are to be kept as pets or brought into common areas at any time.

Ø  No pets are permitted within any building (other than their owner’s premises) or any enclosed common area in the village, unless they are approved companion aid animals eg Guide Dogs. Specific approval is required in this instance.

Ø  Residents are to ensure their premises and common areas remain clean and free from pet debris at all times. Residents must clean up immediately after their pets.

Ø  Residents are not permitted to bury their deceased pets anywhere in the village..

2 Emergency Care Arrangements:

Pet owners must nominate a person(s) to provide emergency care should they be unable to care for their pet at any time. Any costs incurred by the village in the provision of emergency care will be charged to the resident.

2 Withdrawal of Permission:

Permission to keep a pet may be withdrawn if the pet(s):

Ø  Create unreasonable noise or nuisance

Ø  Attack or threaten people or other animals within the village

Ø  Cause damage to the other residents or village property

Ø  Was NOT approved by Management

3 Replacement of Pets:

Replacement of existing pets is subject to the individual Village Rules and may also be subject to the discretionary approval of the Operations Manager.

4 Vacating of Units:

On vacating units, as part of refurbishment resident pet owners are required to fumigate their unit for not only household pests but also for pet lice, fleas and ticks as required, at the outgoing resident’s expense.
