Workshop 2
1045-1145 / David Hulme & Linda Gill – Eden Project Communities
Connecting Communities – Eden Project Communities
If you’ve wondered how to bring your community together, and why it’s important, this is the session for you! In late 2016, taking their experience with The Big Lunch and supporting community volunteers across the UK, Eden Project Communities commissioned CEBR research into the ‘Value of Connected Communities’. Using the research findings and more importantly, on their own experience in community projects, Dave and Linda will present the benefits of coming together locally and how this can benefit everyone living there. They’ll offer some simple things you can do to get involved and to generate community spirit where you live, as well as discussing how to move an idea to reality.
Workshop 3

Flexible and innovative ways of working - How Family Friendly is Working for Employers
Employers who support their people to integrate their home and work life benefit from more loyal, productive and motivated employees who are willing to ‘go the extra mile’. Many employers are seizing the opportunity to harness the benefits of family friendly and flexible working.
But what does this really mean anyway? And how can different types of business make it happen?
This lively workshop, led by Family Friendly Working Scotland, will give you the opportunity to understand the organisational benefits to working in a more flexible, family friendly way and you will hear from a local employer that has embedded a family friendly approach in their organisation, and is reaping the rewards.
Workshop 4
1045-11451200-1300 / Rob Strachan - Scottish Prison Service
Round Pegs in Square Holes
This session will explore the relationship between housing, crime and justice, including the distinctive contribution of housing organisations in reducing reoffending and the role of prisons in preventing homelessness. Rob will share some of the evidence gathered, including the housing experiences of people in the justice system.
Rob is especially keen to engage with housing leaders at community level on the barriers to housing for people leaving custody.
Workshop 5
1200-1300 / Paul McMahon - Brodies LLP
An Update on all Things Employment Law in One Hour Flat - Mission Possible?
Paul’s session will look at the key changes and developments in employment law both in relation to legislation and the most important cases currently coming before the courts, highlighting the practical impact for employers in the voluntary sector. Issues covered will include developments in discrimination, Brexit/immigration, the “gig economy” and employment status, holiday pay and contract issues - and of course the abolition of fees which is set to see a sharp rise in Employment Tribunal claims being raised against employers.

We are not alone – The Ballad of Polly and Nelly
The story of how 5 people from Gowrie Care’s Dundee Futures Project came together to create what became an animation about something we all thought we experienced alone – until we realised we are not alone when it comes to mental health.
Our exploration of different coping strategies gave birth to our first stop-motion animation, “The Ballad of Polly and Nelly”, and it didn’t end there; this is just the beginning of our amazing journey! We invite you to share it with us.
Workshop 2
0930-1030 / Rachel Weiss - Rowan Consultancy
Mediation: Resolving Conflict at Work
Conflict at work is inevitable. It can be a useful force for change, or can reduce morale across the whole team. Not everyone will get on with their colleagues but where this means that staff can’t work productively together it needs to be addressed. How can this be done with a positive outcome?
This workshop is aimed at Governing Body members and Managers who are involved in trying to resolve conflicts at work. We will consider different ways of resolving conflict at work, with emphasis on workplace mediation.
