1.Position Objectives
- Deliver necessary coordination and completion of Wyndham works programs.
- Provideon-sitesupervision ofthe Wyndham Depot Staff
- Assist with the maintenance and management of parks, reserves, roads, drainage and other related works within the Wyndham Town site and surrounding areas
- Assist with the safe, efficient and effective use is made of Council’s staff, plant and materials while providing a high level of customer service
- Work with other teams regularly in the depot and infrastructure teams to ensure collective approaches to necessary works outcomes
2.Key Responsibilities
Under the general direction and supervision of the OperationsManagerduties shall include but not be limited to:
- Meeting works program targets with the Operations Manager and reporting as necessary on the planning and completion of these programs
- On site supervision of staff
- Assist other team members maintain and /or construct projects that enhance or modify council’s roads, drainage and traffic infrastructure, townships parks, sporting facilities, public open space, reserves, streets, ablutions and council facilities.
- Working in accordance with Councils policies, procedures, processes and specifications.
- Participating in Occupational Health and Safety, Employee induction and training
- Carrying out various maintenance works as directed by the Operations Manager
- Developing a team working environment and assist in maintaining productivity and efficiency.

Extentof Authority:
Carry out all tasks to the required standards, in accordance with the best practice principles and in manner ensuring safety of both the public and council employees.
Prioritise OHS agenda in all aspects of work and be responsible to the team in these matters and the organisation.
Liaise directly with Operations Managerin all work related matters.
4.Organisational Context
To proactively engage in organisational agenda, provide assistance to ensure duties and services remain at a high standard to the community, and, to develop and promote the skills and knowledge of depot services staff.
5.Knowledge and Skills
- Skills and knowledge of road and drainage maintenance and/orconstruction techniques.
•Experience and qualification in plant and machinery operation and maintenance.
- Knowledge of Road Reserve maintenance, construction, drainage, traffic control and devices and Public reserve maintenance.
•Knowledge of reticulation maintenance.
- Knowledge and proven capacity to consistently applyOccupational Health and Safety measures relating to work being undertaken.
- Experience in on site supervision of staff.
- Experience in the safe operation and maintenance of mechanical plant.
- Capacity to work effectively as a member of a team and the broader organisation.
- Demonstrated capacity to accept direction and perform tasks efficiently to minimise any rework orwastage.
6.SelectionCriteria– Qualifications,Skillsand Experience
Essential
- Experience in supervising staff
- Minor plant handling and operation experience.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of Local Government maintenance activities.
- Hold appropriate current drivers licenses
- Hold (or be able to gain) a White Card
- Experience in application of OHS requirements in practice and a sound knowledge of OHS principles and law.
Desirable
- OHS qualifications.
- Mobile plant and equipment operating and maintenance experience and qualifications.
- Knowledge of parks and gardens and landscape irrigation systems maintenance.
- Working knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations including the Traffic Code and the Local Government Act.
- Basic understanding of industrial awards and award conditions.
- Demonstrated previous experience working under supervision within a Local Authority.
- First Aid qualification.
7.OTHER REQUIREMENTS
The successful applicant will be required to submit the following documentation. The Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley will reimburse costs:
- National Police Clearance
- Copies of Certified Qualifications
- Drivers Licence; and
- Medical Certificate
The successful applicant will be required to sign the staff code of conduct
