Document Compression Guide

PC Document Compression Guide (see page 2 for Apple Directions):

If you are having problems uploading your PACT document because your file size is too large, don’t panic! The following steps should resolve it (if they don’t contact Roy Dunlap and he will help):

-In Microsoft Word 2007 or newer

-Click on a Picture in the Document

-Select the “Format” tab below “Picture Tools” at the ribbon on the top of the screen

-Click the “Compress Pictures” button on the left hand side of the tab

-Click OK

OR

-In Microsoft Word 2007 or newer

-After completely finishing your PACT, Choose “Save As…” and change the type to “.pdf”. Word will automatically compress the document into a PDF that should be small enough to upload.

-NOTE: While PDFs are very handy due to their smaller file sizes they cannot be edited. Make sure to keep a copy of your PACT as a document for your use and for any editing you need to do.

OR

-In Microsoft Word 97 to 2003

-Right click on one of the images in your document

-Select "Format Picture" from the menu that the right click brings up

-Go to the "Picture" tab in the window that brings up.

-Click the "Compress..." button

-Select the "All pictures in document" setting

-Select "Print" in the change resolution setting

-Hit ok, then hit apply.
