SALARY.COMNAME______

Your task by the end of class Block Day 3/22-23 is to complete a table just like the one you did in SAS 1 for Kafi. In this activity, you will choose the salary for your career which you may find online at salary.com . You are encouraged to explore the different kinds of careers at this website that may interest you as you work through this activity sheet.

If you are not planning on going to college, you will select a career that requires some work experience and/or some prerequisite training, but not a 4-year college degree. There are several options for you to choose from:

a) If you already have made arrangements for this kind of work through your network of family and friends, then communicate this fact to your teacher. For example, you may have an uncle who owns a towing company, and he may give you a job earning $20/hour driving a tow truck after some training.

b) You can attend LoneStarCollege or a trade school you know of and pursue coursework for a specific job. For example, suppose you wanted to work in a medical lab as a technician. You can pursue a 2-year degree at LoneStar and then get a job at MethodistHospital. The graph below shows that you would most likely start at $35000 a year if you were able to find work.

Medical Laboratory Technician - U.S. National Averages / Base pay only
10th% / 25th% / 75th% / 90th%
/ / / /
$34,337 / $37,817 / $46,187 / $50,328

For those planning on pursuing a 4-year bachelor degree or above, you will use the 10th% for your starting pay. You are eligible to work your way up with bonuses and raises, but to start you will start here.
