Patents for Gynecological Issues

Blood is the base of menses. Zang involved = LV, SP. Ren and Chong channels are also very important for menstruation and gynecology.

Qi and Blood Deficiencies

Si Wu Tang

is the basic formula for all blood stuff.

Dang gui su

Typically blood related – tonifies and moves. This is just dang gui. . . good for patients who need simple formulas.

Ba Zhen Wan

Should have both Qi xu sx and blood sx. Popular after childbirth. Basic formula.

Gui Pi Wan

Spleen qi and heart blood. Mostly for bleeding problems, especially spotting/leaking blood between periods, tired before the period/after the period. This is qi not holding the blood in the vessel.

Fu Ke Zhong Zi Wan

Blood xu. Si wu tang + e jiao and ai ye, du zhong for the kidney yang, xu duan, and xiang fu to keep the qi circulating and huang qin to balance the formula.

Nourishes/invigorates blood, warms Ki yang and uterus, soothes/cools the Lv.

Female infertility du to blood xu and Ki yang xu. Blood xu and resulting cold = inhospitable environment for the fetus. That’s why it’s applicable to a threatened fetal miscarriage also.

The caution for during preggers? Tis a silly thing. Ignore that line on the slide!

Wu Ji Bai Feng Wan

Wu ji is black chicken, lu jiao jiao is antelope horn glue and feng mi is honey. Lots of critter bits. Black chicken is good to tonify qi and blood, so it’s good for women. Should be fresh for best effect…ok when frozen, but not the greatest. Taste should be a little sweet.

Chronic blood xuà menses probs like amenorrhea, light/scanty periods, irreg mens d/t xu, lots of spotting, infertility.

Post partum fatigue and injury also. Can boost immune, has anti-aging ingredients. Also protects the liver.

Too tonifying for early stages of external thingies.

Jia wei xiao yao san

Same as xiao yao san, but with more heat .

Fu fang yi mu cao wan

Qi stagnation, blood stasis with blood xu. Treats menstrual crap.

Tong Jing Wan

Blood stasis/stagnation with Qi stagnation formula (esp the Plum flower brand)– blood stasis screwing up menses. Based on tao hong si wu tang.

Key sign: blood stasis

Bioessence has a slightly different mix with more warming herbs for cold signs.

Hongxing’s brand is bad stasis like fibroids and some tissue stuff with blood stasis.

Shao Fu Zhu Yu Tang

Qi stagnation, blood stasis + cold signs. Can include cramps, uterine fibroids, etc. Tong Jing Wan is better for ovarian cysts than this, though this can treat it. Cysts are usually more phlegm + blood stasis than blood stasis alone. Gui Zhi Fu Ling Wan might be best.

No deficiency signs appropriate here.

Wen Jing Tang Wan

Xu cold and blood stasis in the uterus. Wu zhu yu and gui zhi warm the uterus, wu zhu yu descends. Mu dan pi is about balance in this case.

Deficient cold signs here. Compare to the previous formula.

Patents for Masses/Menopause

Masses are blood stasis and/or phlegm nodules. Can differentiate clinically by whether they are hard (more blood stasis), soft (qi/phlegm), and the feeling of the edges. Blood mass edges are rougher, Qi and phlegm are more smoother. Blood stasis nodules/masses are also more painful than others. Qi stagnation nodules will change in size, by the way. Be sure to palpate the abdomen! Even though it’s going to hurt a lot.

Gui Zhi Fu Ling Wan

Blood stasis masses in the uterus, also for cramps, endometriosis, irregular periods, ovarian cysts. Invig blood, breaks stasis, and warms the uterus.

This is a Shang Han Lun formula originally designed to treat tendency to miscarry. Used prior to attempts at preggers when the problem was blood masses causing the problem.

Er Xian Wan

Menopause with ki yang and essence xu with kidney yin xu also. Might alternate between heat/cold because probably have yin and yang xu concurrently.

Vaginal Discharge and Infection Disorders

Vaginal discharge is treated from Spleen which controls the blood in the vessel and deals with dampness when it’s healthy enough to do so. Leaking of all kinds from the vaginal area is treated through the Spleen. You can also treat it from the Kidney which controls the lower orifices.

Yu Dai Wan

“Healing vaginal discharge pill.” Note that Si wu tang is in side this formula – that’s because blood is so closely tied to body fluids. When you’re losing body fluids you’re depleting the blood. If you can tonify Qi to the point that the vessels aren’t leaking blood you also stop the other liquid discharge. This formula clears, tonifies, astringes.

Vaginal discharge due to D/H. Discharge will thus be yellowish. Long Dan Xie Gan Tang is also for damp heat in the vaginal area, but is stronger than this formula. Patient may also have spleen qi xu signs in the middle jiao or perhaps diarrhea.

Qian Jin Zhi Dai Wan

Tonifies spleen Qi to stop vaginal discharge with some accumulation of heat toxins, but really not as good for damp heat as the following formula, Yin Care. May have itching or not.

Yin Care

Good patent for excesses (not deficiencies!) causing bad itching, burning sensation, pain, infection type stuff. Could be fungal (which is much harder to cure) or bacterial. Lots of herbs for damp heat/itching/skin type problems. Tu jing pi for instance is good for psoriasis.

Re: psoriasis/eczema – really hard to treat. Can help treat the sx, but will come back very likely. You can use Yin Care topically for other areas too where there are rashes, eczema, damp heat skin stuff.

Patents for Men’s Disorders

Wu Zi Yan Zhong Wan

Special patent for men, especially for sperm sperm count, sperm motility, and quality of the sperm. This patent can help all of these infertility problems. Also functions as a general tonic for aging men.

Caused by Lv/Ki yin xu, Ki essence/jing xu. For that reason, this is not a magic bullet, but must be taken for a while. Also, ask patient to refrain from sex for a while – no more than 1ce per week (though 1ce every 2 weeks is better) in order to retain the essence.

Note: it’s far less common for men to come see you than it is form women.

Strong nan bao

Can’t produce, can’t perform. Also known as the “This has never happened to me before” pill. Yeah, sure dude.

Kidney yang xu is the root cause. Maybe some Jing too. And why does this say “prohibited during preggers?” Because you don’t need to be having sex with that girl while she’s pregnant, you degenerate.

Kang Wei Ling

No herb specifically for tonifying Kidney deficiency, but tonifies qi and blood xu…kind of like Viagra, which was originally designed to treat heart problems…J Treats from the perspective of blood circulation. Wu gong (centipede) might guide to the penis….or might just be a junior high type reference to the penis.. Just kidding. Wu gong unblocks the channels/collaterals and does guide to the Liver channel. Could be the reason it’s in here.
