Passport installation

Windows 7 + Internet Explorer 9

Before you start…

·  Check you have Anti Virus software installed on your computer (eg McAfee, Norton 360, Microsoft Security Essentials).

·  Remove McAfee Site Advisor software for Internet Explorer if you have it installed, it will stop Passport from working.

Step 1 - Check if you have 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7

1.  Click Start, right-click Computer then click Properties

2.  In the System section look for System Type where it will either say 32-bit or 64-bit, make a note of this

3.  Close the window using the cross (X) in the top right corner.

Step 2 - Check if you are an Administrator on the computer

1.  Click Start and then Control Panel

2.  Click on User accounts

3.  Check the blue box on the right for Administrator, if you see this you have the necessary access close the window and go to the step 3 to remove any existing passport software.
If you see the word Standard, click on Change account type and select Administrator (you will need to log off and back on again to update this change on your computer).

Step 3 - Create a shortcut for Internet Explorer

NB: do not use Internet Explorer 64-bit as it will not work with Passport.

1.  Click Start then All Programs

2.  Right-click on Internet Explorer, then click on Send To then Desktop (create shortcut)

3.  An Internet Explorer icon will be created on your desktop, right-click on the Internet Explorer icon and select Rename

4.  Type in a new name of 32bit Internet Explorer for Passport, click anywhere on the screen to save the change.

Step 5 - Remove any existing Passport software

1.  Click Start then Control Panel

2.  Click on Programs and Features

3.  Find and remove all versions of Java, Juniper and Citrix, by clicking on the relevant programs in the list then clicking on Uninstall or Uninstall/Change (click Yes when asked Are you sure…).

Step 6 - Run the Registery Cleaner

1.  Open Internet Explorer and copy and paste http://hants.gov.uk/passport-tools/regcleaner.exe into the address bar then click the arrow at the end of the bar

2.  Click on Run and then Run again in the next window

3.  Click Allow and then Yes to run the Citrix Cleaner (click Yes again if promoted to remove the Citrix folder)

4.  Click OK to exit the Registery cleaner, close all programs and restart your machine.

If Registery Cleaner is unsuccessful in removing the Citrix folder, you can remove it from the C drive.

1.  Click Start then Computer

2.  Double click Local Disk C

3.  Double click on Program Files

4.  Right-click on the Citrix folder and then on Delete

5.  Click Yes to delete if prompted and then close Program Files.

If this doesn’t work, you can download Citrix Receiver Clean-Up Utility from http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX137494 (click on Download, right-click on the file, then Run as Administrator).

Step 7 – Update Internet Explorer settings

1.  Open Internet Explorer from the shortcut on your desktop

2.  Click Tools (the gear icon) in the top left corner and select Internet Options

3.  The Internet Options window will open, select the General Tab and under Browsing History, click the Delete button

4.  Select only Preserve Favourite website data, Temporary Internet Files and Cookies then click the Delete button

5.  Click the Close button

6.  You will be returned to the Internet Options window, select the Security tab, click on Trusted Sites then on the Sites button

7.  Copy and paste https://passport.hants.gov.uk into the Add this website to the zone field, click Add

8.  The website address will move into the Websites field, click Close

9.  You will be returned to the Internet Options window, go to the Security tab and click Internet followed by Custom Level

10. A Security Settings window will open, scroll down the Settings field and find:
Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls – set ActiveX Controls & Plugins to Enable
Run ActiveX controls & plug-ins – set ActiveX Controls & Plugins to Enable
Automatic prompting for file downloads – set Downloads or File Downloads to Enable (not present in some versions)

11. Click OK then Yes

12. You will be returned to the Internet Options window, go to the Privacy tab and under Pop-up Blocker click on Settings

13. Copy and paste *.hants.gov.uk into the Address of website to allow field, then click Add

14. The URL which you have added will move into the Allowed sites field, click Close

15. You will be returned to the Internet Options window, go to the Advanced tab and scroll down the Settings field, under Security find Do not save encrypted pages to disk and remove the tick, click OK.

Step 8 - Download and install Java

1.  Open Internet Explorer, copy and paste http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp into the address field and hit the Enter key on your keyboard, click Free Java Download

2.  Click Agree and Start Free Download

3.  Click on Run in the yellow bar at the bottom of the page

4.  When you see the message Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer, click on Continue

5.  A Welcome to Java window will open, click Install

6.  If you are asked to install the Ask Toolbar McAfee or any similar software, un-tick the boxes (see below) and click Next

7.  It may take several minutes for Java install, when installation has finished click on Close

8.  You will be taken to a Verify Java Version page, click on Verify Java version (also enable the Java Addin prompt if asked)

9.  You will be asked if you want to run the application, tick Do not show this again for apps from this publisher and location above and then click Run

10. A congratulations message will be displayed when Java has been installed successfully.


Step 9 - Download and install Citrix Receiver for Windows

1.  Open Internet Explorer and copy and paste http://receiver.citrix.com/ into the address field, hit the Enter key on your keyboard, then click Download Receiver for Windows

2.  Read the Citrix License Agreement and tick I agree to the terms of the Citrix License Agreement, then click Continue

3.  Click on Run in the yellow bar at the bottom of the screen

4.  When asked Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer click on Continue

5.  When you see the Welcome to Citrix Receiver Setup window, click on Install

6.  The Citrix Receiver window will close once installation is complete and you should see the Citrix Receiver icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Step 10 - Log into Passport (installs Juniper software)

1.  Go to Internet Explorer and copy and paste this URL https://passport.hants.gov.uk into the address bar

2.  Type in your Hantsnet username, Hantsnet password, Passport PIN and token number and click Sign In
NB. If this is the first time you have logged into Passport, see the information on Learn.IT (http://www.hants.gov.uk/learnit – go to Passport > Setting up Passport)

3.  Accept/Run/Install Active X control if prompted

4.  Click Yes to install Host Checker if prompted

5.  Click on the Hantsnet Desktop icon and agree to install Juniper Citrix Services Client

6.  Once your Hantsnet desktop is loaded you may be prompted by a Citrix Receiver Security warning box. If you are, tick Do not ask me again for this site and then click Permit use

You have now completed the installation process.
