Wellness Survey Results

Participation up from previous year

Policy regulated by state and federal law

Three factors: Nutrition, physical activity and staff wellness

Consistent school environment, what they learn in Health and what’s served in the cafeteria

Food safety and recognizing a growing number of allergies in students and childhood obesity

Nutrition ed. and student related events, they are available, example: apples for the walk in the fall, Andrew Vivieros email listed on monthly menus

School lunch heavily regulated, strictest policy

Products served in school are different than what’s sold in stores, they meet health guidelines: low sugar, whole grain, low salt

Fresh fruit and vegetable cart available for student to choose what they want themselves, 6-8 options grown locally (within 400 miles)

Lincoln has 30 minutes for lunch and recess, (more than most other schools)

Lunch price mandated, we are lower than the federal average

Health & Wellness meetings meet quarterly at 8 AM, highest attendance in state!

Principal’s Update

PBIS met with school improvement team, what should teachers be handling and at what point should a student be sent to the office

PBIS budget: some teachers have prize boxes, what else can we do?

Lego Club registration now, starts next Thursday

Recess club during February and March when it might be too cold to go out, or after school: Scrapbooking group, knitting, building

Mad Science Presentation in March, plus workshops, 2 days, TBD, much more hands on, get more kids involved

Fusion Dance Works works with one class, this year Mrs. Grouleaus’class, free this year, next year $1000, second year $2000 and stays that price.A modern dance presentation with a planet theme.
