Part Time Minibus Driver

The Royal High School is an academically selective, independent day (3-18) and boarding (10-18) school for approximately 650 girls. Junior and Senior Schools are both situated on the northern side of Bath, enjoying commanding views of the city and with good access to the A46 and M4. The Sixth Form is on the same site as the Senior School. The Junior School is located at Cranwell House, which is a 25 minute walk / 10 minute drive from the senior site. Cranwell consists of a refurbished Victorian mansion and a modern new building designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley. The Junior School site is approximately 11 acres.

The Senior site provides a fusion of history and heritage with modern and contemporary facilities which combine to create a perfect learning and teaching experience. Facilities on the site include an Art School, Performing Arts Theatre, Multi-Gym and Sports Hall. In 2015 the school, supported by the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST), embarked on an extensive roof replacement project which is scheduled for completion in 2018. The boarding houses have been completely refurbished during the summer 2017 and there are exciting plans to enhance the sporting and music facilities at the senior school.

The Post

The Royal High School Bath are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and reliable part-time Minibus Driverto join their supportive estates team. The post holder will help deliver the School’s aims and objectives by ensuring the provision of an efficient and effective site and facilities service, and a safe, pleasant environment for students, staff and visitors.

Your duties will include:-

  • Driving the school minibus in accordance with the published route and timetable.
  • Liaising with the school to ensure that parents are kept informed when the timetable needs to be flexed due to unforeseen circumstances.
  • Liaising with the Vehicle and Equipment Manager to take on additional driving duties as required to support the school curriculum and extra-curricular activities.
  • Ensuring high profile areas such as entrance halls and main circulation areas are maintained to an excellent standard and ensuring that deliveries are distributed to the various locations in the school without undue delay, so that reception areas are kept clear.
  • Assisting with school functions or lettings as required, and prior to school/public relation events (e.g. open days, concerts and tours by visitors) ensuring that the school is checked for tidiness, litter etc.

The successful candidate will have a full clean driving licence (including D1), excellent time management and outstanding interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to relate well to young people, parents, colleagues and external agencies. Experience of driving passenger vehicles is highly desirable, but not essential. Possession of a current one-day first aid qualification and MIDAS Training would be an advantage.

Hours

17.5 hours per week to be work from 07.30- 08.45 & 15.00- 17.15 Monday- Friday, term time only.

General

Adhering to the policies of the school and the GDST, as published in the Staff handbook and ORACLE for Schools as amended from time to time, in particular policies relating to the safeguarding of children.

Safeguarding Checks

All appointments in will be subject to two satisfactory references, Disclosure check by the Disclosure & Barring Service, medical fitness for this role and evidence of identity and qualifications. All the above checks must be completed before beginning work in the school. In the unlikely event of an unsatisfactory report being received following the issuing of a contract, the offer of appointment will be terminated without notice.

Salary

£8.75 per hour

Probationary Period

All posts are subject to a six months probationary period and the GDST Probationary Period Policy will be given to shortlisted candidates, but is also available on request to all enquirers.
