Parents—Help Your Children Become “Wise for Salvation”

Theme Scripture

(2 Timothy 3:15) and that from infancy you have known the holy writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

Paragraph 1

(Psalm 1:1-3) Happy is the man who does not walk according to the advice of the wicked And does not stand on the path of sinners And does not sit in the seat of scoffers. 2But his delight is in the law of Jehovah, And he reads His law in an undertone day and night. 3He will be like a tree planted by streams of water, A tree that produces fruit in its season, The foliage of which does not wither. And everything he does will succeed.

(3 John 4) No greater joy do I have than this: that I should hear that my children go on walking in the truth.

Paragraph 2

(Revelation 2:4) Nevertheless, I hold this against you, that you have left the love you had at first.

(1 Peter 2:2) As newborn infants, form a longing for the unadulterated milk of the word, so that by means of it you may grow to salvation,

Paragraph 3

(2 Timothy 3:14, 15) You, however, continue in the things that you learned and were persuaded to believe, knowing from whom you learned them 15and that from infancy you have known the holy writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

Paragraph 6

READ (Romans 12:1) Therefore, I appeal to you by the compassions of God, brothers, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, a sacred service with your power of reason.

Paragraph 8

(Colossians 3:12) Accordingly, as God’s chosen ones, holy and loved, clothe yourselves with the tender affections of compassion, kindness, humility, mildness, and patience.

Paragraph 9

(Ephesians 3:18) in order that with all the holy ones you may be thoroughly able to comprehend fully what is the breadth and length and height and depth,

(1 Peter 3:15) But sanctify the Christ as Lord in your hearts, always ready to make a defense before everyone who demands of you a reason for the hope you have, but doing so with a mild temper and deep respect.

(Deuteronomy 6:6, 7) These words that I am commanding you today must be on your heart, 7and you must inculcate them in your sons and speak of them when you sit in your house and when you walk on the road and when you lie down and when you get up.

Paragraph 12

(Proverbs 22:15) Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a boy, But the rod of discipline will remove it far from him.

READ (Psalm 111:10)The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom. All those observing his orders show good insight. His praise endures forever.

Paragraph 13

(Ephesians 4:14) So we should no longer be children, tossed about as by waves and carried here and there by every wind of teaching by means of the trickery of men, by means of cunning in deceptive schemes.

(Hebrews 5:14) But solid food belongs to mature people, to those who through use have their powers of discernment trained to distinguish both right and wrong.

(Philippians 2:12) Consequently, my beloved ones, just as you have always obeyed, not only during my presence but now much more readily during my absence, keep working out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

READ (Proverbs 24:14) Likewise, know that wisdom is good for you. If you find it, you will have a future And your hope will not be cut off.

(Romans 2:21-23) do you, however, the one teaching someone else, not teach yourself? You, the one preaching, “Do not steal,” do you steal? 22You, the one saying, “Do not commit adultery,” do you commit adultery? You, the one abhorring idols, do you rob temples? 23You who take pride in law, do you dishonor God by your transgressing of the Law?

Paragraph 14

(Isaiah 48:17, 18) This is what Jehovah says, your Repurchaser, the Holy One of Israel: “I, Jehovah, am your God, The One teaching you to benefit yourself, The One guiding you in the way you should walk. 18If only you would pay attention to my commandments! Then your peace would become just like a river And your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

Paragraph 15

(Mark 10:29, 30) Jesus said: “Truly I say to you, no one has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for my sake and for the sake of the good news 30who will not get 100 times more now in this period of time—houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and fields, with persecutions—and in the coming system of things, everlasting life.

(Deuteronomy 30:19, 20) I take the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you today that I have put life and death before you, the blessing and the curse; and you must choose life so that you may live, you and your descendants, 20by loving Jehovah your God, by listening to his voice, and by sticking to him, for he is your life and by him you will endure a long time in the land that Jehovah swore to give to your forefathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”

Paragraph 16

(Psalm 73:1-3) God is truly good to Israel, to those pure in heart. 2As for me, my feet had almost strayed; My steps had nearly slipped. 3For I became envious of the arrogant When I would see the peace of the wicked.

(Psalm 73:12, 13) Yes, these are the wicked, who always have it easy. They keep increasing their wealth. 13Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure And washed my hands in innocence.

Paragraph 17

READ (Mark 12:30) and you must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind and with your whole strength.’

(Ecclesiastes 5:4, 5) Whenever you make a vow to God, do not delay to pay it, for he finds no pleasure in the stupid ones. What you vow, pay. 5Better for you not to vow than to vow and not pay.

Paragraph 19

(Ephesians 6:4) And fathers, do not be irritating your children, but go on bringing them up in the discipline and admonition of Jehovah.
