Baseline is currently a Priority school and a school-wide Title 1 school for grades Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grades, with 98% of Baseline’s students receiving free and reduced lunch.

COMMUNICATION: Baseline will communicate with parents in the following ways to increase parental involvement and to support classroom instruction:

  • Each teacher sends home a communication folder and planner with student notes, homework, and daily log to be signed by parent and returned.
  • Baseline provides 5 week interim reports/nine week report cards with information regarding students’ academic and social progress.
  • Baseline distributes weekly newsletters, in English and Spanish, to parents developed with participation of the PTA, principal, staff and parent volunteers. It includes school news, classroom progress and updates, calendar of events and parenting tips related to school achievement, e.g. homework tips, etc. ContactJennifer Gonzalez@ or 501-447-3716.
  • Teachers contact parents on an individual basis to communicate about their child’s progress. Jennifer Gonzalez interprets for Spanish-speaking parents.

BUILDING STAFF AND PARENT CAPACITY: Baseline School will plan the following meetings to increase parental involvement, build staff and parent capacity:

  • Teachers hold two conferences per year in which parents are given a summary of their child’s test scores, assessments and an explanation of the intervention(s) used to assist the student in academic achievement.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Baseline will provide information to parents about volunteer opportunities:

  • Baseline School provides opportunities for parents and community members to support the instructional program through programs such as tutors, Reading to a class, Parent Nights, Parent Speakers, etc. (Contact Parent Facilitator, Jennifer Gonzalez at 501-447-3716)
  • The school will provide a list of volunteer opportunities and solicit ideas for other types of volunteer efforts during Open House, explaining the requirements to parents and encouraging them to become involved in their child’s education. PARENT-TEACHER COMPACTS: BaselineSchool will work with parents to update School-Parent-Teacher Compact:

  • Baseline school staff, parents and students developed a school-parent-student compact that outlines how all parties share the responsibility for improving student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents build and develop a partnership to help children achieve the state’s high academic standards. EVALUATE ACSIP/ANNUAL TITLE 1 MEETINGS: Baseline School will provide opportunities for parents to be involved in the development, implementation and evaluation of the school wide school improvement plan, and the Annual Title 1 meeting to engage them in the decision-making processes regarding the school’s Title 1, Part A program:

  • The school enables the formation and installation of a Parent/Teacher Association that will foster parental and community involvement within the school. (Contact Betty Bennett, Baseline PTA President @ 501-447-3700).

PARENT RESOURCES: BaselineSchool will provide resources for parents:

  • The school has a ParentCenter located in the front of the building. Open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Contact Jennifer Gonzalez @ 501-447-3716 for additional information.
  • The school encourages parents to check out books in the ParentCenter. Parents may use the computer to check student progress on Edline and visit educational websites. Parents can check out student packets in the Parent Center as well as view the Title 1 Plan located in the Parent Center.   • The school distributes informational packets each year that includes a copy of the school’s parental involvement plan, survey for volunteer interests, recommended roles for parents/teachers/students (compacts), parental involvement activities planned for the current school year and information about the system that will be used to allow parents and teachers to communicate (notes, phone calls, e-mails, etc.). Annual Evaluation of PI Plan: BaselineSchool will engage parents in the evaluation of its parental involvement efforts:

  • The school engages parents in the annual evaluation of the Title 1, Part A program’s parental involvement efforts through an annual needs evaluation completed by school staff, parents and teachers. The survey collects specific information about the (1) growth in number of parents participating in workshops and meetings; (2) specific needs of parents; (3) effectiveness of specific strategies; and (4) engagement of parents in activities to support student academic growth. PARENT INTEREST SURVEYS: Baseline will use the parent interest surveys to select, plan and implement parental involvement activities that will be offered throughout the year:
