National Building Museum Field Trip:

We need supplies for our upcoming field trip! Students are bringing home a list. I have also included it here. Please bring in all materials by Friday, February 21st. Supplies Needed for Field Trip

We are going to the National Building Museum on February 25th. The cost is $13. I will be needing four chaperones. If you are interested in chaperoning, please complete the permission slip and return to school ASAP. Chaperones will be randomly selected.

Scholastic Books:

If you would like to purchase books from Scholastic, please order online using our classroom code,LBMQN. You can also use this link, When you order books using our classroom code, we earn free books for our classroom library.

Volunteering:

Class Updates

Students had Music today.

In Reading, students made liberty crowns just like Lily did in the book Lily and Miss Liberty. She made crowns to raise money for the pedestal.

In Math, students used Sweet Tarts to create a line plot with the colors of their candies. They also made a number line showing the fraction of each color out of their whole package.

We had our Valentine's Day party!

Announcements

Students are bringing home graded work today. Please discuss the grades with your child, sign the communication log and send the graded work back to school. Below is a list of graded assignments that were sent home today.

  • Spelling Test
  • Halves on a Number Line

The Valentine's Day party will begin at 1:45 on Friday. If there is a delay on Friday, the Valentine's will happen as scheduled. If there is no school on Friday, the Valentine's Day party will be rescheduled for Tuesday.

We still need disinfecting wipes! If you would like to donate more disinfecting wipes to our classroom, it would be greatly appreciated!

In Writing, students continued writing their opinion writing piece for whether they agree with the author's point of view that Irene was brave. They also finished up their country research projects.

In Reading, we identified key words, feeling, images and symbols as we read another chapter from the book Lily and Miss Liberty.

Students had P.E. today.

In Math, students identified fractions on number lines divided into thirds and sixths. The number lines represented two or three wholes.

Students made valentines with the other third grade classes.

In Science, we conducted an experiment to see whether the amount of heat produced from friction is affected by rubbing like or unlike materials together.
