City of Bradford YMCA offers a range of provision from short courses up to full time programmes, and support services that are designed to meet the needs of children, young people and families in need of extra support. We particularly specialise in working with challenging children and young people, including young offenders (those at risk) and children or young people who are very disengaged. Wherever possible we work holistically with whole families and in partnership with other involved agencies and services. We work with young people aged 8-25.

Palz+ and Mentoring Project Worker – 2 posts

Fixed Term Contractsuntil 31st March 2015, subject to funding

Salary for both posts: £18,544 p.a. pro rata

Post 1: 25 hours per week,core hours Monday to Friday, 13:00 – 18:00

Post 2: 10 hours per week,core hours term time only Monday to Thursday,10:30 – 15:30

For both posts, flexibility will be required to work occasional mornings/evenings/weekends to meet the needs of children on caseload.

Post 1 –To provide a programme of intensive mentoring and activities to vulnerable young people aged 8-13, to achieve the following outcomes:

  • In order for the young people to behave in a socially accepted fashion in the home, school and the community.
  • For the young people to become resilient and self-confident.
  • Each young person to attend school, behave appropriately and attain their full academic potential.

Post 2 – To work within school settings with small groups or one-to-one, working on areas identified with the school, and to plan and develop programmes for the young people.

Applicants must have experience of working to holistically address identified needs of children/young people aged 8 to 13 in a paid or voluntary capacity, experience of delivering issue based one-to-one or group work activities to children/young people, experience of delivering positive activities to challenging and disengaged children/young people. You must have general office admin experience, good IT skills, numerate/literate and willingness to work flexibly. Applicants must hold a full driving licence and access to own vehicle.
