Call for Volunteers

People to People Canada (P2P) is a federally registered non-profit charity organization founded in Toronto in 1999. Our primary objectives are:

Providing life sustaining support to AIDS orphans in Ethiopia

Supporting prevention and community mobilization programs in Ethiopia as well as within our own communities here in Canada

HIV/AIDS continues to be a massive health care challenge in Ethiopia and many other developing countries. Infection and death rates are still staggeringly high, particularly among poorer parts of the population. AIDS continues to be a primary cause for the growing population of helpless orphans.
There are an estimated one million children in Ethiopia who have been orphaned by this pandemic. / There are also some disturbing signs that, while the availability of Anti-retroviral treatment may have had an arresting impact in AIDS death rates, it may also have contributed to the re-emergence of risky sexual behaviors.
There are already signs that this development has created renewed risk of higher infection rates, complex mutations of the virus and a potential return to very high death rates from the disease.

Young people in our own communities here in Canada also continue to run the risk of infection due to the relatively higher rates of HIV prevalence in some sectors of our society

P2P Canada, its partners and volunteers are determined to continue doing their part in the global and local efforts to combat HIV/AIDS until it is eradicated or fully contained
Since it’s founding in 1999, P2P continues to provide life sustaining support to hundreds of AIDS orphans. We also continue to educate & mobilize vulnerable groups within our communities here in Canada
P2P’s orphan support program is funded by volunteer orphan sponsors and fund raising programs that are fully facilitated by volunteers. Every dollar raised for our orphan support program goes directly towards the living expenses, health care and education of the orphan children. Our health and life style educational and community mobilization programs are funded by charitable organizations like the Trillium foundation and the City of Toronto Community Support Program
P2P’s affairs are managed by a volunteer corps of Board of Directors, 1.5 program management/admin staff and a core group of volunteers who tirelessly serve in our Orphan Support, Fund Raising, Education, Public Relations and Executive committees
Sustaining our support to the orphans currently under our care, expanding that to reach more of the staggering number of AIDS orphans who continue to lack life sustaining support and maintaining our education/prevention programs requires more sponsors, more funding and above all, a high number of core volunteers
P2P has an acute need of willing and able volunteers who can give up a small portion of their valuable time to assist us with,
Strategic planning and program/project development
Event planning, organization and coordination
Designing and implementing orphan sponsorship drives
Designing and implementing fund raising drives
Developing/publishing awareness/educational materials on health and life style issues
Developing/implementing mass communications strategies and multi media content
Designing and implementing focused community outreach programs
Improving community relations and organizational partnerships
Webmaster services and Administrative support
Mobilizing and leading volunteers in many of the above tasks
