Autumn Term - 20thSeptember 2017

This course is aimed at all abilities of student.

Beginners:

You will learn basic drawing techniques because this is important in enabling you to prepare for painting.

Also you will learn about working out the composition of a picture by using ‘thumbnail sketches’, format and size of paper and simple grids to help enlarge a small sketch onto painting paper.

You will progress onto painting quite quickly as I intend for you to join in with the more experienced students as quickly as possible. You will start with basic watercolour painting techniques and by the end of the term you will have tried many different techniques and how they work to produce different textures for lots of different subjects. Painting materials will be discussed at the first class.

Beginners will need:

A sketch pad, at least A4 size

HB, B or 2B pencils, eraser and sharpener

For Experienced Students and Beginners:

This term I would like to bring in a specific watercolour technique at each class as a recap and to help the less experienced students. You will start with basic technique and each class you will be painting a subject which is well suited to that technique. Each class will bring in a new watercolour technique and by the end of term you should be using less traditional methods so that you begin to learn to really USE watercolours to their full potential. The first lesson will be drawing only.

Learning Goals:-
