Overview of the Sustainable Business Planning Curriculum and Workshop Materials

The power point files included on this CD were used in the following order in the Business Planning workshops:

In the Introduction we showed and discussed the two primary business planning tools that were the focus of these workshops – Building a Sustainable Business Guide and the FINPACK Business Planning software. We gave each participant a copy of the Guide and briefly discussed its content. We opened the sample file in the business planning software and briefly showed how the software works. We discovered that we really needed to show the tools early in the session to minimize confusion.

In the workshops we used the DVD interview with the Cedar Summit Farm after the Introduction power point presentation. The video is an interview with Dave and Florence Minar discussing their experience developing a business plan. The DVD is about 14 minutes long and resulted in up to an hour of discussion. We used the Video Discussion power point to stimulate discussion, but the discussion was much broader then the questions included in this power point file.
