Section A: Job Summary

This role sits within the HR and Staff Development team and is responsible for undertaking all of the core administrative activities related to the training and development of all staff across St John’s and to ensure the delivery of an outstanding and compliant training programme.

Section B: Specific duties and responsibilities relating to this post

Core Training

·  Responsible for monitoring and ensuring that staff are completing e-Training (including the Care Certificate where appropriate) to deadline. This will require running regular reports from the platform, liaising with staff and managers and escalating where appropriate. The postholder will proactively manage the relationship with the current provider, Careshield.

·  Responsible for working closely with partners such as Sussex Downs to arrange for delegates to be signed up for mandatory training (currently level 2 and 3 diplomas). Responsible for liaising with and for building a relationship with the programme manager and delegates and for escalating any issues to the Head of Care and Head of HR.

·  Responsible for organising SSTS training for both new staff and annual refresher training. This includes liaising with staff, managers, SSTS and booking the required room and escalating any issues to the Head of HR.

·  Responsible for the organising and overseeing of 5 Inset ‘Training’ days per years. Responsible for all logistics, communication with all stakeholders and ensuring that appropriate and outstanding training sessions are delivered and well attended.

·  Responsible for overseeing and arranging St. John’s induction programme (currently 2 days) and ensuring that all new joiners attend, ideally prior to their start date and most certainly during their first 3 months of employment.

·  Responsible for organising any other mandatory training requirements as required by legislation and regulatory bodies.

·  Liaise with Maintenance/Foundations regarding Driver training and ensure that staff training records are kept up to date.

·  Responsible for all tasks relating to training events including booking trainers and delegates, organising logistics, catering and ensuring rooms and equipment are available and booked in.

·  Responsible for supporting staff members currently undergoing professional training such as those training to become a lecturer/teacher. Point of contact for Universities and/or Colleges.

Training Administration

·  Responsible for ensuring that HRIS and other systems (example Careshield) are kept up to date with all training and development activity.

·  Responsible for running regular reports in order to ensure that staff are completing required training to deadline.

·  Responsible for producing T&D reports for SLT, governors, trustees and as required.

·  Responsible for recording all training costs and working with the finance department and Head of HR to ensure the training budget is not exceeded.

·  Maintain and develop all training and development processes and procedures as relevant to the role. Support the Head of HR and SD in undertaking training gaps analysis and to produce an annual training plan and calendar.

·  Explore and implement an effective process for capturing, reporting on and utilising feedback on training activities.

·  Responsible for ensuring that relevant staff (Wellbeing, Teachers, Finance, etc) are up to date with CPD requirements and that St. John’s can evidence that professional membership is attained on an annual basis.

·  Responsible for proactively researching and suggesting solutions for staff development/training.

·  Responsible for capturing and recording training needs of all staff members and for working with the Head of HR to produce an annual training plan.

·  Responsible for advising colleagues on appropriate training opportunities.

The Hive

·  Responsible for day to day running of the Hive Training centre including bookings from external visitors.

·  Responsible for marketing and promoting The Hive externally and be point of contact for bookings.

·  Responsible for ensuring that the Hive equipment is kept in good working order and that the kitchen is kept well stocked.

·  Responsible for being on site when the Hive is booked by external visitors – potentially after core working hours and during the evenings and weekends.

·  Interact with Learners as appropriate to the role and department in which the role is undertaken.
