Outdoor Track Information - Parents Night

Please send me an email so I can add you to our list. I don’t send too many emails but it is good to have in case. Our main avenue of communication will be the Westfield website, outdoor track, the Outdoor Track 2016 Facebook Group, and the Google calendar Please check the different sections of the Westfield website(especially the links, files, and news)on a regular basis. Please check those places before emailing me your questions. I should, however, receive an email from your son or daughterfor EVERY absence from practice, in advance if possible, otherwise, as soon as possible.Other items:

  • EVERY TEAM MEMBER must bring $20 cash to purchase this season’s team tee shirt. Please send that in as soon as possible to ensure the correct size. They must be purchased before the first meet. If this is the first season of track, athletes are required to purchase a uniform. It will be used by them each additional track season that they compete. Boys $60, Girls $55 – checks to WHS, or cash are accepted.
  • Please choose a few places you can help the team in our volunteer positions. Our assignments are posted on the website under the links tab. Please go there and sign up.The most important date is March 29th– our home meet. When you help at a meet, you receive free entry into the meet. All meets charge a $5 entry fee.
  • We do not have room for everyone on the buses. If your son or daughter would like to drive themselves, or you would like to drive them, we are required to have a transportation form on file. They are posted on the website in the files section. An athlete may only ride home from a meet with their parent unless you list other athletes or parents on your transportation form. There are two forms, one for everyone who drives, the other for anyone who will be riding with someone else. If your son or daughter turned one in for indoor, that form covers this season as well.
  • All athletes should have a watch (ALL RUNNERS), water bottle, and LAYERS for every practice. A bag should be kept with hats, gloves, sweats, long sleeve tee, rain jacket, etc. so they are prepared for ANY weather. Too many times, warm clothing is forgotten and the practice is not effective because the athlete is freezing. The bag should also include a healthy snack for before and/or after practice to try and keep them from buying junk food.
  • If your son or daughter is NOT available for ANY meet on our schedule, please send me an email NOW, especially the spring break meet, April 13th
  • We have an annual track clean-up day. It was a big success last year and parent’s brought tools (shovels, rakes, weed whacker, and good rotor tiller)and came to work so it didn’t take much time. Please come to help!
  • Our fundraiser again this year is the mulch sale on April 22nd . There is an online sign up so please ensure your athlete signs up so the credit goes to our team! JV athletes can help all day, varsity athletes may have to work around their meet time from Lake Braddock. Parents can help by driving but in order for us raise money, the athletes have to register (any students can put track down and the team will get credit for their time!!)
  • Our spirit wear store will be open soon! Please PLACE YOUR ORDERS! You can order for all family members to show your/their support of Westfield Track! The store will close one week after it opens and the items will be distributed to team members two weeks later.
  • If your son or daughter would like a team picture, they should bring their order form and $ with them tomorrow.Everyone should dress up – boys tie, girls dress/skirt.

Thanks for your support of our team! Please sign up for volunteer spots.
