OUTDOOR EDUCATION AT CAMPGRIZZLY
Sixth grade students at JES participate in outdoor education from Sept.13-15, 2017. This program is referred to as CampGrizzly, named after the camp facility we use near Laird Park, Idaho.
WHAT & WHY
- Outdoor education provides students with experiences in natural science and conservation.
- We utilize professionals from the Forest Service, Fish and Game, Search & Rescue and the Extension Service to name a few.
- Students develop knowledge and skills advocating responsible interaction with each other, the environment and wildlife.
- The curriculum is centered in science, conservation, and group work.
- Students are introduced to outdoor recreational skills.
- This team-experience sets the tone for the year and is used as a reference point for many activities throughout the year.
WHEN
- The dates for the 2017 Camp is Sept. 13-15th.
- Students leave JES at 8:45 A.M. Wednesday morning
- Student return to JES by 3:00 P.M. Friday afternoon
DETAILS
- Complete/update Student Registration form
- Complete/update Student immunizations
- Complete medication form if your child takes any type of medicine
- Complete Field Trip Permission form
- Meals are provided by JES kitchen staff
- Supervision includes JES staff, parent volunteers, and a high school team.

My child has permission to go on the above field trip. I also give permission for my child to be transported to a hospital or treatment center in the event of an emergency. I have listed and medication my child needs to take on this field trip. I understand that the current physician/parent form for “Administration of Medication at School” must be provided if the medication needed is not already routinely given at school. I have listed any allergies my child may have or any other medical information the school may need to know about in the “remarks” section below.

SACK LUNCH FOR WEDNESDAY…SUPER IMPORTANT!
Warm sleeping bag and inner blanket (32 degrees)
Minimum 2 large trash bags
Heavy coat
Rain coat
2 pair pants
2 changes underwear
bandana or handkerchief
2 shirts (1 t-shirt, 1 flannel or heavy, long sleeved shirt)
hat (sunshade and stocking cap)
sweatshirt
good sturdy shoes/boots with ankle support (no sandles/flip-flops)
cotton gloves to handle foil dinners
extra shoes
several pair of warm socks (3 or 4)
pillow
large piece (9x12)) of tarp or plastic to cover tent and a piece for undersleeping bag and 6 clothes pins or clamps
towel and toilet articles (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant)
camera (optional)
fishing pole (optional – we have plenty!)
insect repellent and sunscreen
flashlight – with fresh batteries
water bottle –one that hooks to belt loops is best.
NO KNIVES, ELECTRONIC DEVICES, HAIR DRYERS, CURLING IRONS, AEROSOL CANS, MATCHES OR CANDY.
Please make sure that everything is securely packed and tightened down.
