North Durham County Netball Association aims to contribute towards Netball’s 10.1.1 vision of being a top ten participation sport, the number one sport for women and girls and number one in the world. At a local level North Durham County Netball Association will promote equal opportunities for people to take part in Netball at a level appropriate to their needs and aspirations. North Durham County Netball Association aims to achieve this by taking positive action to develop Netball as a sport, by promoting and developing productive partnerships with appropriate sporting and outside agencies and by seeking to ensure that the distribution of all financial aid and is subject to the principle of sports equity.

North Durham County Netball Association is now seeking nominations from its members to serve on the North Durham County Netball Association Committee.

We are recruiting for both elected members in the positions of Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary and 4 members to serve as specialists in the areas of Coaching, Competition, Performance and Officiating along with up to three other person appointed by the committee

  1. THE NOMINATION/APPLICATION PROCESS

The constitution allows for any Individual or Independent Member of North Durham County Netball Association to stand for nomination to the Committee. Individuals will need to be nominated by two voting members to stand as a candidate and must complete the application form in this pack to confirm their willingness to stand for office. Voting members may nominate only one candidate for each vacant position. Voting members are Schools (paying the school’s membership fees) and affiliated to North Durham County Netball Association and Clubs who hold a first affiliation to North Durham County Netball Association). All nominations must be received 30 days prior to the date of the general meeting at which the election is due to take place (EGM set forWednesday 17th January 2018).Closing dates for nominations is 5pm on Friday 15th December 2017

  1. GENERAL INFORMATION & BACKGROUND

North Durham County Netball Association is a member of England Netball

North Durham County Netball Association comprises of the geographic areas of Sunderland, South Tyneside, Chester-Le-Street, Derwentside and Durham City

North Durham County Netball Association is governed by a Committee. The role of the committee shall be to further the objectives of North Durham County Netball Association by establishing policies and overseeing their implementation and the investment of funds

North Durham County Netball Association adopts those rules, regulations, policies, resolutions and rulings of England Netball as applicable to members of England Netball. North Durham County Netball Association will be a member of England Netball, affiliating as and when required.

Our objectives for North Durham County Netball Association are to:

  1. Further the interests of Netball within the geographic area
  2. Adopt and enforce the rules, regulations, resolutions and rulings of England Netball
  3. Strive to deliver the mission set out above and achieve the minimum operating standards set out from time to time by England Netball.
  4. Create and deliver a County strategy for Netball

The North Durham County Netball Association Committee (NDCNA)

The NDCNA is a group of individuals who form a group to collectively govern and deliver the objects on behalf of the membership. The composition of the ND CNA is:

a)Chair

b)Vice Chair

c)Treasurer

d)Secretary

e)Up to 4 Members elected to serve as specialists in the areas of, Officiating, Coaching, Performance, and Competition and

f)Up to 3 other members appointed by the Committee.

The Committee shall meet at least four times each year.

No employee of England Netball may hold any position on the ND CNA Committee (apart from those employed under zero hour contracts).

All ND CNA Committee members will sign up to the England Netball code of conduct and will complete a declaration of interest form.

The Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary and specialists in the areas of, Officiating, Coaching, Performance, and Competitionare elected into the position by the Voting Members.

  1. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
  • Any person seeking election to the Committee must be nominated by two Voting Members of North Durham County Netball Association t and must confirm in writing their willingness to stand for office. All nominations must be received 30 days prior to the date of the General Meeting at which the election is due to take place.
  • All Committee members must hold a current affiliation to North Durham County Netball Association
  • Committee members must act in accordance to the powers set out in this constitution and must exercise independent judgement taking reasonable care, skill and diligence when doing so.
  • Committee members must avoid conflicts of interest, not accept benefits from third parties and declare any actual or perceived interests to the other Committee members as soon as they arise. Committee members will be required to complete an annual conflict of interest declaration along with a declaration stating they are a “fit and proper” person to serve on the Committee. The Committee will maintain this information on a register.
  • The members of the ND CNA Committee are voluntary positions. Expenses incurred will be reimbursed.

Specialist Positions:

In addition to the role descriptors for the various Roles we are looking for volunteers who demonstrate:

  • Passion for netball in the geographical area of North Durham County Netball Association
  • Excellent knowledge of their specialist area
  • Proven history/ track record in their specialist area
  • Desire to develop the specialist area
  • Commitment to work in Committee environment
