SALVATION HISTORY
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course for Grade six pupils- Salvation History starts with the basic doctrine of the Catholic Church grounded in the Old Testament where God revealed Himself through His words and deeds narrated in Genesis, Exodus, Judges, Kings and Prophets and fulfilled in the New Testament through Jesus Christ.
This course aims to lead the students to respond in God’s plan of salvation by following Jesus’ footsteps in their daily lives.
PROFILE OF THE SCHOOL AND STUDENTS
Tawid- tawid is an adopted community of Our Lady of Peace School, Antipolo. The administration established an extension school in Tawid-Tawid to help those families who have no means to send their children to school. They opened the kinder level in 2004.They are not only given academic assistance but also spiritual formation. Student catechists of Our Lady of Peace School, Antipolo reach outto the children by giving short catechesis andconducting feeding program every Saturday.Most of the Grade six students because of their educational background would require more attention and assistance to understand the lesson.
Thepupils’ focus of the Old Testament isonly on creation story. Bible stories are often lead by literal acceptance of what it says; that what is written in the Bible are just simple and ordinary stories, without understanding the deeper meaning. Some students do not see the connection between Old and New Testament.
COURSE OBJECTIVES: The course will lead the students to:
DOCTRINE:understand that the promise of salvation in the Old Testament is manifested in the New Testament through Christ.
MORALS:cooperate in the salvific plan of Godthrough living out the teachings of Jesus Christ.
WORSHIP:celebrate Christ’s saving act in the Holy Eucharist.
