JANUARY/FEBRUARY2014

Incredibly, another New Year has begun. We wish everyone a healthy and happy 2014! With the beginning of a new year comes a whole new “round” of holidays, and February promoteswhat seems to be one of

our favorites – Valentine’s Day! However, and with whom, you celebrate; we hope you have a wonderful day!

We have one idea for celebrating, and in doing so, you would be able to visit with some of our GHHS Class of ’67 alums…..

Sharon Travagliante Weitzman has extended to the Class of ’67 an invitation to attend a Valentine Dinner Dance at her church, SS Cosmas & Damian Church Hall (Twinhaven), 10439 Ravenna Road in Twinsburg, on Saturday, February 15, at 6:00pm. All singles and couples are welcome! An eight piece band, “Contraband” will be playing Motown, blues, jazz, and lots of danceable music.

Appetizers and cocktails will be served at 6:00pm, and dinner will begin at 7:00pm. The meal will be catered by “Bella Catering” from Twinhaven, and will be Italian, featuring chicken parmesan, pasta, potato, veggie, salad and rolls. There will also be a “chocolate station”. Cash bar, beer & wine, at cost.

This is not a GHHS fundraiser, but just an evening for us to have fun. Please extend this invitation to include your family and friends. Reservations are being accepted -- $30 per person. Contact Sharon at (330) 487-5244. So grab your sweetheart, significant other, friend, or come alone, and celebrate this special holiday a little bit differently!

Newsy Reflections & Tidbits: Pam Poveroni Conrad and hubby, Joe, just drove to Florida in a 1990 classic caddy. Friends of theirs bought it while they were visiting Pam & Joe and then flew back to Florida. So, the Conrads drove it back to them! And, the Conrads just bought a Winnebago…..sounds like more travelling folks!

AND, since February brings Valentine’s Day that sparks romance and lovely sentiments, what could be better than reading a story about a marriage proposal!

“It's every person's dream to meet someone they can love and confide in -- someone to depend on who celebrates you as you are; someone who gets your sense of humor and is willing to do things just to make you smile. Ed, a man from London, did just that by proposing to his fiancé in the best way possible -- with sixteen adorable Pug dogs.

Initially, Ed envisioned having just a few Pugs when he contacted the New York City Pug Meetup group to help him propose to his paramour, Alex. The couple doesn't have their own Pug, but according to Ed, Alex simply adores the breed. Her face lights up like a Christmas tree whenever she sees one. So, what better way to propose to the person you love than with her favorite dog breed?

However, when Ed showed up at Bow Bridge in Central Park in New York to do the deed, he was greeted by not a few Pugs, butsixteenwriggly, snorty little bundles of ecstasy. The scene was completed with a bouquet of heart-shaped balloons. When Ed dropped to his knee to propose to Alex, there was no way she could say no. (Really, how do you turn down a guy with 16 Pugs and a ring?) Surprise!!!

The event culminated with a stroll through the park and a quick photo op. Every Pug who participated received a commemorative tag. Now that is celebrating Valentine’s Day!
