8.2 / Next Town Hall Meeting (Kim) / Shelley
  • Staff and faculty to get together to discuss long-term strategies

  • Discuss recent changes: President, programs, chairs/directors, cafeteria/bookstore

  • Kim – 15 minute presentation, then open up the meeting

  • Suggested date: Thursday, April 14th or Friday, April 15th at noon

  • Shelley to review exam schedule and advise

8.3 / Orillia representation at Oro-Medonte Chamber of Commerce Award Dinner (Kathy) / Info
  • April 14th, 2011 @ Horseshoe Valley Resort

  • LU is sponsoring environmental award

  • Kim will attend and present the award

8.4 / New Chair of Interdisciplinary Studies (Alice) / Info
  • Recommendation that Dr. Sree Kurissery be appointed the next chair of Interdisciplinary Studies was forwarded to Acting Vice-President Academic & Provost and to the President

8.5 / Enrolment Numbers (Frank) / Info
  • 2,000 applications have been received to date

  • Increase of 19% if Faculty of Education is removed

  • Increase of 9% if Faculty of Education is in

  • Overall down 3.5% with Thunder Bay campus included

  • Kathy Hunt reaching out demographic groups

  • Advertisements in the malls, facebook, etc.

  • Next push – colleges

  • Frank is co-ordinating a date to have Patrick Fogarty High School grade 11 students come for a campus tour and interact

  • Regular tours – most tours we have ever had – many local and many from Georgian College

  • Frank predicts that we will meet the target of 1100 students by the very end

  • Kim asked Frank for flow through numbers – they should have very shortly

  • Kim would like these posted sooner than later.

  • Frank or Brian will discuss with Robert or David from Thunder Bay to get this looked after

  • Frank announced that Betsy Maus has been hired as a new recruiter. Betsy comes to us from Trent University

  • Residence is guaranteed to all 1st year students (271 beds)

  • There have been a few inquiries from returning students about getting into residence – this can be accommodated

8.7 / Wireless Internet (Brian) / Info
  • Brian reported that the wireless internet is now up and running at all three locations

  • Brian will have Tim Rowe send out an announcement to everyone

  • At the PPG meeting, it was brought to Kim’s attention that there was a report complaining about security at the back of Town Court.
