Mrs. Caroline Carson.

Mrs. Caroline Carson died at the home of her son, Richard W. Carson, near New Paris, on July 23, aged 84 years, five months, and 29 days. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Blackburn and the the oldest of a family of eight children. She was a member of the M. E. Church for many years and attended a long as her health would permit. She first married John Dull and afterwards Nathan Carson. Two children were born to the first husband and two to the last. All are dead but the above son. Her funeral services were conducted in the M. E. church by her pastor, Rev. J. Gulden. The pallbearers of this aged lady were Martin Hinton, James B. Stultz, Joseph A. Hiner, Albert Kirzey, Joseph O. Reuzer and David Mann. Her remains were laid to rest in the Baptist Cemetery.

The engagement has been announced of Miss Rebecca Corley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Corley of New Buena Vista and Mr. Clarence Dull, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Dull, New Buena Vista. The wedding will take place in the spring. (Source: Bedford Gazette, February 13, 1925)

George Kimmell died at his home in Napier Township --remainder of sentence unreadable--. He was a son of Jacob and Mary Kimmell, both deceased. Mr. Kimmell was born February 26, 1866 and on April 19, 1886 was united in marriage to Miss Annie Bagley. He moved to Napier township, where he has since resided, in 1902. Mr. Oscar Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lafayett Miller, of Fishertown, Pa., a well known young man of that place, and Miss Arlene Dull, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Dull, of Point, Pa., were united in marriage on Wednesday, November 25, at New Paris, Pa., by Rev. Edward Espy Dull died with Gangrene at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Fisher, of near Schellsburg, on Monday June 7, 1920. He was a son of Joseph and Christiana (Otto) Dull and was born in Juniata Twp. on December 31, 1845. Mr. Dull was united in marriage to Ann Maria Guyer to which union four children were born, three of whom survive: Mrs. George Fisher, of near Schellsburg; Mrs. William Cook, of Mann's Choice Route 1, and William Dull, of Johnstown; the deceased daughter was Mrs. Lewis Turner. He has one surviving brother, W. H. Dull, one brother Samuel having died in Libby prison during the Civil war.

The funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 9, 1920, at Trinity Lutheran church, Dry Ridge, Rev. Metger of Schellsburg officiating. Interment was made in cemetery adjoining church. He was a member of Trinity Reformed church for a number of years and of the I. O. O. F. of Schellsburg.

POINT Mrs. Catharine (Calihan) White died at the residence of Mrs. Jane Dull, aged 70 years. Funeral services were held on the Mennonite church on Tulls Hill on Monday morning. Interment was made in the Hoover cemetery near Fishertown. (Source: Bedford Gazette, February 3, 1922)

After a lingering illness, John Keller, an aged and respected citizen passed away at his home in Juniata Township. He was born January 15, 1838 and died September 20, 1919, aged 81 years, 8 months and 5 days.

He was born and raised in Somerset County, Pa., and was a son of Henry and Rachael Trent Keller, deceased.

He was united in marriage to Mary Eve Dull, daughter of Joseph and Christiana Otto Dull. To this union 8 children were born. His wife and four sons preceded him in death. He is survived by the following children: C. Alvinda, Josephine, William H., and Mrs. Effie (Keller) Brant, one granddaughter, Mrs. Lelia M. (Brant) Kelley and one great grandson, John William Kelley, all at home. Two brothers and one sister also survive: Mrs. Sarah Ringler of Connellsville who is in her 95th year, William Keller of Johnstown in his 90th year, and Justus Keller of Long Beach, California, in his 78th year. He was a veteran of the Civil war, being a member of Co. H. 171st Regt., Penna. Volunteer Infantry. He was one of a family of 12 children, seven boys and five girls. Of the seven boys, five served in the Civil War.

In his young days he learned the shoemaker trade which occupation he followed for a number of years. Later he purchased a farm and followed farming until 7 years ago when he underwent an operation for Kidney trouble from which he never fully recovered. He was a faithful member of the Reformed church for 54 years, serving in the offices of Deacon and Elder and Sunday school superintendent.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday morning at Trinity Reformed church, Dry Ridge, by Rev. Metzgar, of Schellsburg. The body was laid to rest in the cemetery adjoining the church. Six Civil War Veterans acted as pall bearers: John Holler, Frank Manges, Daniel May and Andrew Hillegass of Buffalo Mills Rt. 1, Henry Brant of Buffalo Mills and Jonathan Hyde of Mann's Choice Rt. 1., the latter being one of his tent mates.

Abraham Otto born Feb 17, 1773 and his wife Anna Christine, born Dec 18, 1776, lived in the bottom and Abraham and his brother Herbert/Harbert Otto operated a fulling mill. There are quite a few bedspreads still in this part of the county of (Bedford) which were manufactured by them. Abraham was one of the officers who built the First Dry Ridge Church. Catherine (Otto) Dull and Elizabeth (Otto)Mowry were their daughters. Abraham & Anna were laid to rest in Schellsburg Cemetery.

Frederick J. Hillegass died at Mann's Choice on Saturday, Nov. 27. He was a son of the late Jacob F. and Julia Turner Hillegass and was born near New Buena Vista on June 14, 1842. The Hillegass and Turner families are pioneer settlers of the central section of Bedford county, and have a large following today. They trace their ancestry back to Colonial times, and number among their forefathers Michael Hillegass, who was the first treasurer of the United States.

Frederick J. Hillegass was twice married. His first wife was Miss Elen Hart. His second wife, Miss Lizzie Ann Dull, died about nine years ago. Since that time he has made his home with his cousin, Miss Mary Hillegass, of Mann's Choice. One daughter, Mrs. Emmett Horner, at Johnstown survives; also one granddaughter, Mrs. Charles L. Ream of Johnstown, and the following brothers and sister: Andrew of West End, Henry and Lewis of Harmon's Bottom, George of Johnstown, and Mrs. Margaret Hyne of Dry Ridge.

Mr. Hillegass was a member of the Reformed church, which he joined under the pastorate of Rev. C. W. Warlick, and of which he was a consistent member when he died. The funeral service was conducted by his pastor, Rev. Arthur J. Miller of Mann's Choice, the service being held in the New Buena Vista church. Interment was made at Schellsburg.
