REQUIREMENTS & ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Permit applications must contain

-Applicants Name, Address and Contact PhoneNumber, the Reason /Purpose for the burn, the number of on site Assistants, type of Water Supply, the Location / Address of where the burn is to occur, the Dates and Types of Fuel and Approximate Volumeor Area of the Burn

-Payment of the nominated permit fee

  • Each permit issued has a life of no longer than 28 days
  • Permit must be retained only by an adult person in charge of the burn
  • Display of an adequate pressured water supply and hoses must be readily at hand
  • Permit allows fire to be operated only between the hours of 7am to 6pm the same day, whereby it must be totally extinguished before the site is left
  • Permit allows only the nominated fuel to be used
  • Fire must never be left unattended
  • All efforts must be made to eliminate excessive smoke, so others are not harmed in any way
  • Permit allows for the fire size not to exceed 9 cubic metres, and must have a 5 metre clearance of all flammable materials, and must not be situated any nearer than 5 metres to any building, and only 1 fire per property at any one time
  • Notification must be given to the relevant Fire Brigade, Vic Fire and to occupants of neighbouring properties at least 24 hours prior to the burn
  • Permit does not allow burning to occur on a day of “Total Fire Ban” and a “Smog Alert Day”, and does not allow for any fire to remain alight should the temperature exceed 26 degrees centigrade and the wind speed exceeds 15 KPH
  • An Authorised Officer from the City of Kingston, the Victoria Police, the Country Fire Authority, or the Metropolitan Fire Brigade may override the permit, at their discretion, and may direct the fire to be extinguished
  • Penalties for breach of conditions will be enforced.
