On page 9, after line 12, insert the following:

"SECTION 7. A NEW SECTION OF KRS 311.840 TO 311.862 IS CREATED TO READ AS FOLLOWS:

(1)For the purposes of this section, "board" means the Kentucky Board of Anesthesiologist Assistants created in this section.

(2)Anesthesiologist assistants shall not practice under the authority granted in KRS 311.840 to 311.862 until the board created in this section has been established and has promulgated administrative regulations in accordance with KRS Chapter 13A to establish the scope of practice for anesthesiologist assistants as required by subsection (6) of this section.

(3)There is hereby created the Kentucky Board of Anesthesiologist Assistants, which shall consist of five (5) members to be appointed by the Governor and shall be attached to and receive administrative assistance from the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure. Two (2) members shall be practicing anesthesiologist assistants; two (2) members shall be certified registered nurse anesthetists; and one (1) member shall be a physician licensed by the board who has post graduate training in anesthesiology.

(4)The terms of the members shall be for three (3) years and until their successors are appointed and qualified, except of those first appointed two (2) shall serve for one (1) year, one (1) shall serve for two (2) years, and two (2) shall serve for three (3) years. Vacancies shall be filled in the manner of the original appointment for the unexpired portion of the term only. The Governor, after notice and opportunity for a hearing, may remove any member of the board for malfeasance, neglect of duty, incompetency, or revocation or suspension of a license. Members of the board shall receive no salary but shall be allowed usual mileage, subsistence, and per diem as provided by law for members of state boards, commissions, and committees. No member shall serve more than two (2) consecutive terms.

(5)The board shall meet at least annually and may meet at such other times as necessary to complete the business required. A majority of the members of the board shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business. Annually the board shall elect from its membership a chair, a vice chair, and a secretary to serve for one (1) year terms.

(6)The board shall promulgate administrative regulations in accordance with KRS Chapter 13A defining the licensing, regulation, and scope of practice of anesthesiologist assistant, including but not limited to:

(a)Applications for anesthesiologist assistant licensing:

(b)Licensing renewal requirements:

(c)Approval of supervising physicians;

(d)Disciplinary actions; and

(e)Any other administrative regulations necessary to enforce the supervision and regulation of anesthesiologist assistants under KRS 311.840 to 311.862.".
