Job title: Regional Progesterone Navigator

General Summary

The Regional Progesterone Navigator assists OPQC in addressing progesterone administration barriers in Ohio. Supports local clinics and obstetric practices in each of six regions of Ohioto overcome financial, administrative, pharmaceutical, transportation and individual patient barriers to secure progesterone for qualified obstetric patients. Fosters relationships across health care systems with assigned OPQC outpatient clinic progesterone teams in their region to identify how and where to obtain the progesterone formulation, payment sources for the medication, and who and where it will be administered. Works closely with OPQC to assure timely communication of lessons learned and open communication of progress at regional level.

Eligible candidates will have clinical or professional appointments with an OPQC charter member maternity hospital, or have experience working with an OPQC project in the past. OPQC will contract directly with the charter maternity hospital to cover salary support and fringe benefits at 10-15% effort (4 to 6 hours/week) per Regional Progesterone Navigator.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Experience in healthcare field required. Licensed clinician or nurse with practice experience in outpatient perinatal settings preferred.
  2. Ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders including OPQC Progesterone teams in their entire assigned region.
  3. Ability to resolve problems in a non-threatening manner.
  4. Ability to work across organizations transparently and collaboratively.
  5. Effectively understand and work within a variety of obstetric outpatient practices in their local region.
  6. Working knowledge of private and public health insurance managed care systems approval processes.
  7. Basic knowledge of system and policy level health care issues preferred.
  8. Adheres to all professional standards regarding patient confidentiality and safety.

General Duties

  1. Provides clear, specific and rapid guidance to OPQC project teams throughout assigned region to identify best source of progesterone formulation, such as commercial or compounding pharmacy preparations, payment sources and administration logistics.
  2. Tracks and document local changes, conditions, and issues related to access to progesterone therapy.
  3. Identifies and reportssystem and policy level issues that are inhibiting access to progesterone therapy promptly to OPQC leadership.
  4. Maintains close and open lines of communication with OPQC staff and faculty and OPQC project teams to assure timely communication of lessons learned and progress at regional level.
  5. Assists in building a community of knowledge and expertise to effectively address system level issues related to Progesterone therapy.

Expectations

The Regional Progesterone Navigator will be expected to commit 10-15% effort (or 4 to 6 hours/week)to this work and to participate in monthly webinars, conference calls, and listserv email conversations with OPQC management team and other Progesterone Navigator team members. A formal monthly progress report will be submitted to the OPQC Management Team.

Must have assigned computer with Internet access and individual email address; must have assigned telephone with conference call capability; must be able to communicate with assigned teams, managed care providers and OPQC through telephone, email and occasional travel using personal vehicle.
