Ohio eLicense Portal New Firm Application Instructions

Please review the following instructions carefully. If you need assistance logging into the eLicense Portal please contact the Customer Service Center at 614-644-6860.

Logging in to the new eLicense Portal:

  • Navigate to the portal link: elicense.ohio.gov
  • Click the LOG IN link (located in the top-right corner of the screen) or the LOGIN/CREATE YOUR ACCOUNT button (located in the center of the screen)
  • (If you have already created an account in the eLicense Portal, please log into your eLicense Dashboard and skip to the Navigating your account and eLicense Dashboard instructions.)
  • If you are an administrative professional and are not registered with the Board as a licensed P.E./P.S., then please select the I DON’T HAVE A LICENSE button. If you are an Ohio licensed P.E./P.S., then please select the I HAVE A LICENSE button.
  • Follow the instructions provided to create a new account.
  • To register on eLicense, your name, social security number, date of birth, and email address must be provided.
  • Please note your username will be the email address you provided.
  • Social security numbers are used for account identification purposes only.
  • After you have successfully created your account, you should be greeted by a page that says “Welcome to your eLicense Dashboard.”

Navigating your account and eLicense Dashboard:

  • Navigate to the account name in the top-right corner of the screen
  • Hover the mouse over the account name and select MANAGE BUSINESS from the dropdown.
  • CLICK on the Add New Business dropdown icon (V).
  • Enter your firm’s Business Name, entity type, FEIN number (or SSN for sole proprietor), Doing Business As name (if applicable), and Primary Contact information then CLICK submit
  • Once your firm’s information has been submitted, the page should refresh and show your firm’s name under the MANAGE BUSINESS heading.
  • You may use the pencil icon to the right of the firm name to update your firm’s primary contact information, business alias, and website.

Applying for your firm’s Certificate of Authorization:

  • From the MANAGE BUSINESS page, CLICK on the DASHBOARD link at the top of the page.
  • Navigate and CLICK the + APPLY FOR NEW LICENSE button
  • Select the Engineers and Surveyors Board in the dropdown of the License Selection page
  • Select FIRM in the Select a License dropdown
  • Select General Application in the Select an Application Type dropdown
  • An account dropdown will populate with name of the firm you created
  • Select your firm name
  • Answer the eligibility question and read through the application instructions
  • Your firm will need to be registered with the Ohio Secretary of State before submitting your application for the Certificate of Authorization.
  • CLICK the SAVE AND CONTINUE button
  • You will need to complete all required fields on the Business Information, Background, Questions, Attachments, and Review + Submit pages.
  • Please note you will need to upload a Firm Affidavit of Responsibility form for each licensee listed as a License Affiliation. Licensees listed as a License Affiliation are in responsible charge of the engineering and/or surveying activities for the firm.
  • If you are registered as both a P.E. and a P.S. and listed in responsible charge for the engineering and surveying activities for the firm, you will need to enter BOTH license types on the License Affiliation Page.
  • Firm Affidavit of Responsibility forms can be found on our website: peps.ohio.gov.
  • After submitting your application, you will be directed to your Cart to pay for the renewal by credit card or debit card.
  • SELECT the Engineers and Surveyors Board from the Cart dropdown
  • CLICK the checkbox next to the firm license fee and CLICK continue
  • Enter all required fields regarding payment and CLICK continue
  • Review all payment information and CLICK confirm
  • A confirmation email with receipt will be emailed to the address on file.
  • You will receive an approval email once your application has been reviewed by the Board. This email will also contain your firm’s certificate for the current licensing period.
