Section 1: Annual Goals

Reading Goal: Improve student knowledge and skills in reading as measured by 5% increase in the number of students meeting the standard on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Reading MSP Assessment.

2010-11: 72.2% 2011-12: 75.7% 2012-13: 73.55%

2013-14 Target: 82%

Writing Goal: Improve student knowledge and skills in writing as measured by 10% increase in the number of students meeting the standard on the 4th Grade Writing MSP assessment.

2010-11: 66.7% 2011-12: 61.3% 2012-13: 53.7%

2013-14 Target: 70%

Math Goal: Improve student knowledge and skills in math as measured by >5% increase in the number of students meeting the standard on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Reading MSP Assessment.

2010-11: 57.8% 2011-12: 70.4% 2012-13: 65.91%

2012-13 Target: 75%

Section 2: Action Plan

Reading Goal: Improve student knowledge and skills in reading as measured by >5% increase in the number of students meeting the standard on the MSP assessment.
Strategies to leverage district-support initiative(s) to support your school’s reading goal:
·  Targeted data analysis and instructional preparation during job-alike ERM meetings and district DoDEA PLC meetings, as well as regular grade level team meetings.
·  Use and share data in grade level teams and across grade levels to make instructional decisions.
·  Communicate with parents regarding student performance in a variety of ways, such as ThinkCentral, parent-teacher conferences, blogs, e-mails, reading nights, etc.
·  Continue the use of MSP released items to have student practicing response types similar to the MSP.
·  Continue use of CORE strategies
·  Utilize DoDEA and Title I literacy coaching support
·  Implement revised and/or new intervention strategies, including but not limited to Read Naturally, Leveled Literacy Intervention (Fountas and Pinnell), StoryTown materials, and targeted fluency and sight word practice.
·  Continue differentiating instruction through work stations and targeted instruction during leveled and small group instruction.
·  Implement an intervention system through Title I and LAP staffing and materials that provides +30 minutes of targeted reading intervention to students not performing at benchmark on standardized assessments such as DIBELS.
·  MSP intervention before school during the months of March and April for targeted students.
·  After school Cub Club for both homework help and focused reading and math intervention.

Strategies that leverage district-support initiative(s) to support your school’s math goal:
·  Use ERM time to review Common Core standards for math and learn the new assessment.
·  Provide Title I support as possible to students during math for reinforcement of math skills/concepts.
·  Provide math-fact intervention through computer programs as a during-school intervention.
·  Use MSP and WASL Math Released Items to coach students on response strategies and techniques.
·  Before School MSP intervention provided to targeted students during the months of March and April.
·  Use of tools such as Math Facts in a Flash, Moby Max, IXL Math, and Kann Academy to reinforce and supplement math skills.
Monitoring tools (CEE Survey, HSTW/MMGW Survey, MSP, CBA’s, NAEP, DIBELS, ACT, SAT, GPA’s, etc) and targets, if applicable:
·  Use Quick Quizzes, Unit Tests (MXpressions) for targeted intervention

Strategies to leverage district-support initiative(s) to support your school’s writing goal:
·  Participate in David Matteson writing training provided through the DoDEA grant.
·  Administer writing prompts triennially to assess writing progress.
·  Use writing checklists with students to assess writing performance.
·  Participate in DoDEA PLC meetings to share teaching strategies.
·  Writing training/review for fourth grade students in how to respond to a “cold” prompt.
·  Utilize DoDEA literacy coaches to model writing strategies.
·  Utilize writing samples and anchor papers to instruct students in writing.
·  Design mini-lessons to address needs in writing, particularly conventions.
