Cycle Cinema Screening on 14th May 2016 Location: Abbey Hall Graignamanagh @ 3pm
Film: a New Release Film will be advised at later date * This is an Upcoming Fundraiser for Boys National School
Energy doesn’t come any greener than this! Parents, grand parents, teachers, students, club members and other local cyclists will pedal continuously to power the film screening.
So how does it work:
There will be 8 bikes with 8 cyclists beside the screen - their pedal power will generate an approximate total of 1,000 watts of power over the duration of an average length film.As there is no electricity involved it takes a team of 8 cyclists pedalling continuously to power the cinema, usually achieved through15 - 20minute cycling shifts. So a100 minutefilm will see a full complement of~40 cyclists (8 cyclists per shift for5 shifts). We would be asking each of the participating cyclists to raise sponsorship for the event and local businesses will be given opportunities to advertise on the big screen.
So you see the more cyclists that participate the less time you will have to cycle – So please get involved with this very exciting event - its going to be something very new and different and lots of fun all the same time, not only bringing Cinema back to Graignamanagh after all these years but with a new twist and raising funds for a very good cause too – your local Boys National School.
So go green, get fit, get involved – give back a little if you have 10 mins to spare on the 14th of May and cycle to power the cinema for the Boys School.
For your sponsorship cards please contact the Boys school directly 05997 24454 or any of the Parents Association members:

Lotto: The Local Lotto Jackpot now stands at €20,000. Reserve Jackpot €13,200.
The numbers drawn were 3, 4, 9, 22 and there was no winner. Consolation winners of €30 each were Sarah Kelly, Tommy Prendergast, Paul Keating, Carmel Kinsella & Hannie Murphy, Ballybeg.
Tickets are on sale in Local Businesses and from Committee members costing €2
Next draw on Monday 18th April 2016 at 9pm in Doyle’s Bar. All are welcome.
Membership of the Club is now due.
The Club has a Direct Debit Facility if anyone would like to set up to include Membership, Piltown Draw, Lotto etc. Anyone interested in using this facility can contact Thomas Holden on 0872886560 or Adrian Bolger on 0868551384 to discuss further details.
Used Clothing Bins:
We encourage people to bring their clean used clothing, curtains, Bed Linen, towels, old shoes bags etc. to the recycling bins at the GAA Car Park.
Roadworks: Kilkenny Co. Council has completed the tarmacadam on the new path, Parking area and roadway outside our grounds. The finished job looks brilliant and we are very thankful to Kilkenny County Council for completing the project so promptly.
Piltown Draw/Hurlers Co Op Draw: €110,000 in Prizes over 5 draws. The winter is truly over and it’s that time of the year again when the Piltown Draw tickets get into circulation. Last year we sold over 300 and we are hoping to exceed that number in 2016. Over €100,000 has been invested in the new boundary walls, gates and improved parking and safety measures outside the grounds. We would like to invite people to come up and have a look at the work now that it is completed. We are asking for the support of the whole community with this draw to help defray the cost of this major project. Our Club will get at least €25 for each ticket sold and the remainder goes to the Co. Board and is one of our biggest fundraisers for the year.
