Exec Council Updates

  • Implementation of new scholarship programs (Excelsior, ETA)
  • NYSFAAA was invited to testify at the NYS Assembly on how schools were faring with the new scholarship programs. NYSFAAA sent a written correspondence to the Assembly.
  • NYSFAAA’s Technology Committee is looking for volunteers. Feel free to contact Lea Newer () or Heather Adner () with any questions or if interested in volunteering.
  • Novice Training will be held this year at Mercy College; cost will be $620 per person
  • NYSFAAA 2018 Annual Conference will be held at the Marriott Syracuse; it will be the 50th anniversary conference
  • Intermediate Workshop is coming back! Albany is the probable location, to be held in June at $150 per person; 2-day training
  • Proposal made to create a Service Award in honor of the late George Chin; it would be for excellence in mentorship
  • Discussion on budget flexibility to request funds from another region
